That's beautiful. What happens if you need to drive it? Do you use a beach chair duct taped to the floorboard?

How long did that take? In particular, the rear seat and the passenger front seat?

Ummmm I don't mean to alarm you my man but someone seems to have absconded with your interior. What madcap adventure has inspired this?

That is probably the funniest think I have seen in a while... Great going 04elantra, I can't wait to see how it turns out in the end!

Actually...sorry to spoil your joke Super, but I use a patio chair!!
LOL...I have use of my parents 01 GLS for the next 5 days while I finish this. :)
If you are all wondering, I am dynamatting/dynashielding the whole car (see my post about my completed trunk) and running the amp wiring for my stereo.
Hope to get the swaybar installed today.

You better post more pics when you get this done. Good job!

I recommend adding Dynamat to the inside of the center console before you put it back in the car. I did this in mine and it makes a BIG difference in interior noise. Something about all that hollow plastic acting as a echo chamber. Excellent to see someone doing the Dynamat thing all the way, good work.

-hmmm now where did that annoying rattle come from?!!!?--
seems like a great way to reduce rattling inside the car...

Mad props to ur hard work by the way... but I don't get any rattling inside my car. My Bass sounds real clear and deep. The only rattling I did get was outside on my license plate but I took care of that.

Well...the entire back half of the car is now dynamatted....when I finish in a couple of days, I will post pics again.

I got two bulk kits and a door kit....and 4 cans of dynashield.

07-16-2004, 05:00 PM
How much did all of that cost, and where did you get it? I wish i had the time to do it.

Don't mean to be a retard but what exactly is a dynashield?

this i think http://www.dynamat.com/car_dynashield.htm
04Elantra
07-17-2004, 06:35 AM
door kit was 50 on ebay an it cost 240 for the 2 bulk pacs on ebay...and the cans of dynashield are $25 each in the local audio shop....then the roller is a few bucks and so is the cutter (they really make the job much easier)...figure you are looking at around $350 and ALL THE TIME to do it.

07-17-2004, 10:43 AM
That $350 is nothing compared to the time it takes to do it right. 04Elantra is probably spending about 1000 dollars of his time to do this, but it's gonna be perfect. I still want to see some pics of a totally dynamatted interior when you get it all in. Have fun, and I'll get that CD out on Monday.

so true - amount of time it takes to fully fit out a car with this stuff is phenominal
only downfall to all this is the weight though :(
but i guess you'll just fit a 50hp gas system and all will be good

07-17-2004, 08:48 PM
That's a good idea. Use the dynamat, and a 50 shot of NOS, and you'll be great. Just kidding 04Elantra, you've done a great job so far!

All right...just to build up suspense......
the dynamatting is finally nearing completion...just got to do the front drivers portion (at the moment my seat is in cause I need to drive the car to work! :D )
I will post some pics tomorrow and then hope to get the interior back together.
Pictures of the rear "H" removal to come soon....and in a little while, pictures of all 4 doors being dynamatted (I still got a whole bulk box of dynamat left for it :) )

Looking good! Get one of those yellow shop lights so you can do some evening work. Those things have spent many hours inside my cars.

You will have the quietest car in the world when its over. You could run over a land mine and not hear it!

07-27-2004, 01:58 AM
Or a kid on a bike. Those are 20 points! Just kidding.
04Elantra
07-27-2004, 04:18 AM
in my book only old ladys with walkers are 20 points, kids are 15 cause they can run or put up a fight
yeah...having the quietest Elantra around was definitely one of my goals....and to have one of the best small SQ systems around!! Eventually, when I am done, I will post more pics
watson80
07-27-2004, 10:42 AM
no thats backwards. You get 20 prop pts for kids cause moving targets are harder to hit and old ladies are only 5pts each( look for bingo nites and you will clean up). If you can hit a hummingbird with your car its 100pts!
04 elantra cvvt
07-27-2004, 10:52 AM
And a dear is only 1pt. They tend to freeze up making them an easier target!
04Elantra
07-27-2004, 09:06 PM
i rate them negative 5 points...cause they destroy your car!
This is becoming an off-topic post whoring bit, isnt it!?!?!?!

Yes it is... Sorry 04ELantra. Good luck on finishing the car!

well...I finished and the interior is 99% back together. Now just gotta do the insides of the front and rear doors (rear doors possibly next week)
the car is already noticeably quiter

I may have to take a trip up to NY to take a look at the quietest XD in the country. You've done a great job.

Did you notice the extra weight? When I had mine finished is when I started modding the performance of the car cause that beotch was HEAVY!
04Elantra
07-30-2004, 03:58 AM
I would have to say that in total there will only be like 50 lbs of Dynamat or so in my car (thats only a half a tenth slower in the 1/4 mile at most.....plus our cars are not race cars!) I didnt really notice power loss
I am building up my car for comfort, overall good handling, and a good stereo which is why I have only done stereo stuff (dynamat makes the stereo better and the car quicker=more pleasurable to drive) and suspension stuff (sturt bars, sway bar, springs (soon))
I am truly not worried about "power"...the car has enough to get up and go on the highway and is responsive

don't forget to do a place that most people overlook: the back of the rear seats! a lot of noise from the trunk gets transmitted through the seat backs. unzipper the trunk lining material that covers the sseat backs and you will find the entire area is one big perforated metal plate. i applied about 10 sq. ft to the backside of my rear seats and it made a noticeable difference in blocking the trunk noise from entering the passenger compartment!

Good thinking southpaw. I never would have come up with that one.
04Elantra

Neither would I.....but now I will...thanks southpaw.
