dude, im running over 3000 watts rms in my car. have a seperate batt (1125 cca optima only for the amps) and i have a 3 farad bank cap. i also have an optima red (series 24) under the hood. as far as draining the battery. how much power are you useing? what amps or what set-up in your car do you have? some people say caps are crap, but i use one and i know it helps out..if only for a micro-second. and i hit a 143.6 on a t/l yesterday during testing :D yes sir a 143.6. thats F'n loud guys.

im running to mtx 12's with a kenwood excelon 1100w mono block amp, and 6.5 cadence components up front powered by a 600w 2 ch amp. all of its controlled by a pioneer cd deck.
i notice that when i turn it up loud, the lights go dim (obviously) and my music skips a beat sometimes, im not sure what i want to do to solve the problem.

what kinda battery up front (under hood) are you running? you should have a decent optima red top up there. at least a 24 series like i have up front. sounds like the front battery is not so good. and do you play music loud w/the car off?
getting a cap might help w/the problem, but you need a better power source to get any real benifits (new/bigger battery). then the new battery and cap should solve the dimming issue and make the system operate more efficiently.

i got a new die hard battery, the standard size that the elantras take. you think getting one of those optima batteries would make the most difference? where do you find those optima batteries and how much do they run for?

i got my red top for 109.00 (regular price is 129.00 its a 4 post batt 2/+ 2/-) from batteries plus. any auto parts store should stock or be able to order you one. and you should still get a cap. at least 1 farad and only have it for the sub amp and not for both amps. subs pull more power than mids/highs. i have my cap only for the sub amp. and the cap i have is adjustable as in voltage in and voltage out. my sub amp needs 14.4 volts for optimum power, so i have my cap set at 15.2v peak and 14.8v low.

you think i should try a cap first because i should get one anyways? and if that doesnt work then get one of them red tops?

its probably 3 months old at the most. its been lightly used. i never have problems starting up in the cold, ive left my lights on a couple times for a whole school day (5hrs) and came out and started my car. its a pretty good battery its just drainin real fast.
ill post the specs when i go out and look at it.
