I just got back from a trip to Puebla, Mexico. (A couple hours SE of Mexico City). I saw quite a few Hyundais down there but very few of the larger ones. A couple Tuscon/Santa Fe's & mostly the Atos which isn't sold in the US. (They had a little badge on the back that said Atos by Dodge) A lot of them were used as taxi's. (Black & yellow in color) Although they seem to be manufactured recently, they didn't have airbags at all! Apparently they aren't required in Mexico & a lot of cheaper cars don't have them. Some also only have drivers airbags & have a storage bin where the passenger airbag would go. (I rode in in 05 Neon that was that way) Just thought it was interesting.

They just quit making the OLD VW Beetle in Mexico back in 2003 so there are a billion of them on the road. I guess they don't get rust down there so cars seem to last a long time. I rode in a Nissan Sentra cab. They were pretty popular. The one I rode in must have had about 200,000 miles on it cause it rattled like crazy. The public buses made for interesting transportation. Most of them had lights out, check engine lights on, bad exhausts, etc. Safety standards are pretty lax. It was even more apparent when I got back to the US. Saw a few Pugeots. They are nice looking cars!
