hell no, i love me some raw mdf. and that setup won't be lasting much longer. after 3 years it's time to retire that sub and move on.

Eclipse 3way 6x9.
Custom box for them, almost sound like subs sometime.
With autox, it is some much easier to take out, and not as heavy as my sub bos I do not use.
I have them on a Rockford POwer 4 channel amp.

yeah again...in my excel i had the 6x9s in the rear with 8 inch midbass, a 12" xtr orion sub in a bandpass...bose mids up front(in the dash 4") and then i had eclipse 5.25s in the door...obviously custom enclosure...i wish i had some pics...i had a second battery and a dual battery isolator....it was as nice setup...my system now though sounds ten times better...

half the time i think the old school stuff is better t han teh new crap...

case in point my eclipse deck is like 6 years old...

i think its an 8301...it has 8 volt pre outs and a non fading sub...very nice and clean...hell i still think it beats 3/4s of the HU out there now.

whats up with even some NEW **** having a non fading sub output??. Especially those badass touch panels eqs!?. I dont know about yinz guyz, but i listen to crazy hardcore music, then rap, then soft rock, then alt.. etc. and without a fading sub its rediculous, i use my sub control like every few songs. Also i only listen to mp3s and everyone encodes those differently and with different volumes. A non fading sub out would be entirely useless to me. Oh and dont pull that sub boost that some amps have, cause ive had those on my last 2 sub amps and i think they both sucked hehe, all the boost did was lower and raise the frequence, it was more like an external x-over (thats not what it was, but what it sounded like) :P i hated them both and stopped using them after like a weak, what a waste if running a nother wire down the entire panel.. (then again that may be bacause im always getting really high power but budget cost amps)

Tears apart basically any car with a system in my area (that i have come across).

:eek: because i dont want made crazy bass when the beach boys comes on! but then wanting it for M-o BB D double eP ...not to mention that with a child in the car the bass can be harmful to their little ears...so i turn the sub down and so goes for wifey...shes not a big bass fan...and is not really necessary when listening to jewel or Sarah M(sp?)<stuff wifey listens to.

and besides...i'm a SQ guy and like tuning it....

as for the bass boost...yeah they all suck! if you want more bass out of your crappy rockfords...just buy two more subs... :eek:

I'll tell you this right now, and not because i happen to own them. But they in all honesty are the best subs ive ever heard in their class. They have the SQ of an infinity kappa and a sh!tload of power. I got 2 of them for 225$ shipped off ebay. They were actually designed to compete with the alpine type r, which im sure you know is a very good speaker. IMO it dominates over the type r, being a sub that can sound good in a small sealed enclosure, or a big ported enclosure.

I'll prolly be the first to tell you this, but if you know anything about phoenix gold titanium series subwoofers. These are better.

I'd try and pick them up ASAP though, i remember reading something on this forum that said PG was going to discontinue the sub because they were too hard to make on a large scale for the price they were selling at.

The only downside to these subs is that you almost have to power them at RMS. I tested them out at like 200 rms to each sub in a sealed box and it sounded fair. I put them at 600w rms to each sub (subs are rated at 500w rms and like 1200w max) and it made a huge difference, i have yet to hear a sub that can hit lows as loud as this sub. If you have the power to power them, these subs are amazing. I've had MTX 5500's, MTX RT's, Kicker CVR's, Alpine Type S's, and Power acoustik FUBR's, the xenons dominate over all of them.

If ur lookin to get a decent setup id recommend two of the at dual 4ohm each so you can wire it to one ohm, and find an amp that does 1000-1200w rms into 1ohm. I got a Viper d1200.1 off ebay for like 225$ shipped, i took it over my memphis 1000D.

ok sorry to start chatting in this pics thread hehe, but kizzo, that deal is SO good, i mean 88 bucks? are you kidding me, i was about to buy either Type R's or Soundstream Van Gogh, but these subs are like right on par with both of them and WAYYY cheaper. i found the type r and soundstreams for about 120 for either, but PG for 88 bucks! damn!

ok now im going to canada tomorrow at like 6am and when i get back next week if i can still find a sweet deal on those (and dont gamble all my money away!) i am going to pick up 2 of the dual 2 ohm and wire them in series to keep the ohm load @ 2ohm and hook them into my boss 2200D.. they should get what boss calls "1400rms" but from what i see on the web its closer to 1200-1300, but thats fine with me, still plenty of power for a budget amp.. my box is 1.25cft so it should all work out good. *crosses fingers

Also did i see someone on here say they have a legacy amp! :( aww man so you have like a 4000 watt 2 channel amp!... but its like 24w RMS x 2... Heh, nah im just farkin with ya man. legacy is a little better and you can get like decent 300+ rms per channel for the high end, but i just bash them cause they always print this REDICULOUS peak power on the amp.

I saw a legacy at a car show and it said 2000 watts... it was a 100x2rms amp lol

Ugzz: I dont think youre going to be able to find those in a dual 2 ohm load easily, ive only seen them a couple times at different places for not so cheap. i think i seen em at woofersetc.com for like 130$ each for the dual 2 ohm. If you cant find a good deal on those, id recommend getting the d4 ones for 88$ from that ebay auction and then just getting a good amp. I'd recommend a Viper D1200.1, Directed Audio 1500, or a Memphis 1000d.

i sold the xenons to a friend of mine. i thought the xenons sounded good, then i heard the diamon d6's. my god they are awesome. i only had the xenons for like a month but while i had them they were real good.

everybody needs to hear the new diamonds, they cost about the same price as a type r but they completely blow ANY dual type r system away hands down.
