If you can't tell by the size of the tire I am looking to get, there isn't really a lot of choice so which of the two would you take and why?

It depends on where you live. Neither would make all season in a lot of rain very good. They are nice performance tires though for summer, etc.
I like these. Performance, all season, highly rated, cheap, and RIM SAVERS.....I like the look of them. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?cs=215&pc=28750&rd=17&ar=45

Yeah I like those too but I want a 205/45/17 for my lowered Elantra. It will be only a summer car once its done so performance is what I want.

I like the Parada Spec-2, they look great and sound like they will grip awesome.

I have the AVS ES100 Yokos on my Elantra.
I think they are quite grippy, and they are very good in the rain.
Now that I have lowered my car, the true benefits of this tire have come to the forefront. In addition, they are not real noisy, even on some of the concrete surfaced freeways here in Detroit. I have friends with Nittos and Kumhos who think they are way too noisy.
My car is a Summer through Fall car as well, so I don't really worry about the Winter performance.
I'd recommend this tire hands down based on my experience!

If you want performance IMO I would suggest the Falken Azenis RT-615's. They are about 30 more dollars a tire then what you are looking at through discount, but I think it is worth the extra coin. Mine just got delivered today.

^ yeah and you will run through them in a quarter of the time...
i just purchased falkens ....they are a nice tire...aw crap...i make a thread abou them...and they were a little cheaper....VERY nice tire!! they handle way better than my toyo proxies did...and i'm on stock suspension...i can only imagine when i get my TEINS back!!
but out of those two...i would pick the yoko's....look into the falkens i made a thread about...they are very nice!! and very similar tread pattern.

In terms of wear, the paradas will last you the longest out of the tires mentioned here. Personally I would choose the paradas as well.

Well I decided on Falkens only because I could get them though my job at a nice discount. I liked the look of the Yoko's but I could not pass up the price I got the Falkens for. Hopefully I will have a pic of them on my Elantra by the weekend.

I don't think you can go wrong with Falken's. I think many people have discovered that they probably offer the most bang for your buck.
As far as the Parada Spec-2 vs the AVS ES100, I believe Tirerack.com has a comparison test and the Spec-2 came in lower than the ES100. There wasn't much of a difference in performance between the 2 based on the test, so I got the ES100 instead because I didn't care for the treads on the Spec 2.
The ES100 were really grippy tires for the money, but once they are worn, your ride quality is crap and they get very loud. As for treadwear, they seemed to be somewhat average for it's performance category. On my car, the rear tires wore out unevenly, probably due to my crappy alignment, shot suspension, and the rubbing issues I had with the 215/45's.

from what ive read, falken seems to have the best grip/wear ratio (best grip when older, unlike some tires when they get older). personally, i don't know, i have never tried them.

Actually I had it backwards. the spec 2 came in a few places higher than the AVS ES100.

Too bad Tire Rack doesn't carry Falken, or I would bet that list would be a lot different.
