Well, I just got a call from my mother, and was told that MWAA (Metropolitan-Washington Airport Authority... the airport police force) offered me a job pending an interview... pretty much just have to walk in, say hi and accept the job @ $14/hr @ 40hrs/wk. So that means no TSA (airport screeners) or Hyundai Dealership job (they never called back)

so excited!

Congrats on the job...the TSA thing is kind of wack. I'm not sure if you know people who do that but a few friends of mine who took jobs doing that said the hours you get are weak and the test they took said it makes it seem like they are looking for mundane people who will just pretty much be drones on the job. It could very well be different in different locations but I think it's a federal agency in itself. Working for the actual security should be much better for you. Congrats again.

TSA is a sheep herding job... the idiotic leading the brainless pretty much. and they get a weak *** looking badge. the only plus was that i made it to the 2nd phase of the application process and go in for final interviewing/testing after my backround check

but I think it's a federal agency in itself.
it is a federal agency. you have the second to lowest clearance liscense with that job. i had more access to parts of the airport as a ramp agent than i would if i took the TSA job

i said eff that... im not sharing a room with 2 old people that only talk about the war and the price of coke. if i wanted that, id just tell my dad to retell (for the billionth time) what it was like growing up in cleveland in the 1950s and 60s.

and this job, i might get a gun! i have the interview next tuesday between 8am and 11am

if you're under 21, im about 98% sure you are not allowed to carry a gun. i could be wrong, but that was the deal when i did security a couple years back. i had to wait til i turned 21 to carry a firearm

come to think of it...i may go back to doin that for my grandpa if hes lookin for help here in a couple months

this is a federal agency, and thus falls under the jurisdiction and regulations as police forces so that "rule" doesnt really apply in this instance

Congrats on the job. Working for a federal agency is great, been doing it for over 7years and it pays off more than you can imagine. As for the gun, not being 21 and not having a clearance will probably not be in your favor to have the gun, but the clearance and age will come so maybe one day you'll be the clint eastwood of travel. Congrats again, work is work but a career is hubba hubba.

right...you have to be 21 to be a police officer here in ohio just for that fact that you carry a gun. the 21 year old limit to buy a hand gun isnt a state-to-state law, its a federal law.

if you can do it, more power to you, but i dont think you'll be able to

in VA you can be 18 with at least an admin degree from a technical institute and high school diploma to be a police officer

in NY, you just need a high school diploma in some areas

Coreect, sorta. The federal law mandates you have to be 21 to purchase a HANDGUN and handgun ammunition. Only 18 to purchase a rifle or shotgun.

The concealed carry permits do vary from state to state. In Indiana you can apply and get a CCL at 18, but can't buy the handgun until 21. Stupidest thing sometimes. . .

As for the job, well we already discussed this partially already. . . have fun! :D
