Hagerty Ranks Top Ten Driving Peeves
Memorial Day is around the corner - but as the folks at Hagerty Insurance are reminding us this week, there's probably someone on the cellphone or eating at the wheel of the car in front of you, before you even get to the corner. How did they know? Through a survey on their Web site. And the results won't surprise many people - the top ten driving peeves in the unscientific poll were the following:
1. Distracted drivers talking on cell phones (Motor Mouths)
2. Slow drivers in the fast lane (Turtle Racers)
3. Pushy drivers who tailgate (Piggybackers)
4. Drivers who weave through traffic to gain one or two car lengths (Wacky Weavers)
5. Obnoxious drivers who speed up to keep you from changing lanes (Gap Snatchers)
6. Hasty drivers who change lanes without signaling (Space Invaders)
7. Road Rage (Road Ragers)
8. Motorcyclists who race down the middle of a lane, between cars (Speed Racers)
9. Women applying makeup and men shaving (Driving Divas)
10. Drivers who leave their turn signal on for miles (Morse Coders)
Read more about the survey at the Hagerty Web site, www.hagerty.com. (I got this from TCC).
I hate Turtle Racers and Space Invaders myself.

I guess it all depends on where you live too. Number 8 (speed racers) is viewed differently in California, where the caged drivers (car drivers) actually move over to make room for the bikers to ride the line.
I do a lot of driving, just ask anyone who knows me, and I try not to let anyone get me upset or aggravated no matter what they do. I usually set the cruise control for 5 over the speed limit, I try to stay in the right lane unless passing someone, and if I see someone speeding up to cut me off I will slow down and let them pass. It really is not worth dieing for or getting into an accident to stop someone from gaining 10 seconds on me. Plus someone driving aggresively I would rather have them in front of me then behind me, it is better to be stuck in traffic after they cause the accident in front of me than be the one in the accident because I wouldn't let him pass and he forced the issue.

Traffic would go so much more smoothly if people were militant about using the right lane for driving, and the left lane for passing. When you've got two cars in both lanes doing the same speed... ugh, it drives me crazy. IT MAKES ME RAGE. RRAAAAAGGGEEEE!!!11~1

i can agree to that 100% but i am a bit guilty of using the faster moving cars/trucks as radar detectors though... :D

i would rather be in front of them so when they do cause a wreck it is behind me and i dont get involved in the pile up

I only ride peoples asses because I think they should move if going 55 in a 75. Or so on like that. The US needs to adopt the autobahn system. Passin on the right= illegal =D. So you only go in the left lane A) to pass then you get right back over. B) you can handle going the speeds of all the fast drivers. like the people in lambos and ferraris and such

Hey Alucardabyss passing in the right lane is Illegal in Arizona already. You can pass there in the city limits but as soon as you leave you can only pass on the left. I got pulled over for passing this guy on the right when I was coming back from Texas last year. The guy was doing 65 in a 75 and would not pull over for me to pass him. I was flashing my lights and all he did was keep going in the left lane so finally I passed him and not 5 min. later I get pulled over. I asked why and he said I passed on the right and it is illegal. Tried to play the dumb card and say I am from Texas and did not know so he did not give me a ticket but I also told him the guy was doing 65 and would not pull over for me to pass and he said slow down or take your chances getting a ticket. What BULL****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if you could stay in front of him then I would agree, but chances are if they are driving like an idiot they will eventually catch you. And if they are directly behind you then most likely you will be the accident, and again this is just my theory.

Turtle Racers get under my skin a bit honestly...especially when they are Driving Divas in an SUV (cause it makes it to dang hard to see)...but then again, if I wasn't such a Piggybacker...I probably wouldn't have that problem...
LOL
Peace,
Chill
