Would you use the Gallery if you could?

I am curious to see how many people would use Gallery space if it was offered to all members of the site?

I'd like to have thousands of Elantra related pictures right here on the site for everyone. I mean, putting them on a site like Photobucket or CarDomain is cool, but don't you think having them all right here would be cool too?

So, would you use the Gallery if you could?

It's a real friendly interface. It works similar to the Manage Attachments way to post pics. Just find the picture on your computer and hit upload.

Maybe some of the Pro Members can chime in here.

It would make posting a little easier, but I think you would need file size limits, daily space quotas, or something set up so it is not abused.

you can always give pro members more space.. thats what i'm doing on my site - giving everyone about 5mb, and then pro-members get 2-3 times more

superGLS I have a great piece of software for galleries. I'd like to talk to you sometime about maybe helping out with the site. Making the COTM look better and if you want to check out an example of the gallery i'm talking about let me know.

as for being on topic, galleries would be great but i wouldnt use them because i have my own webservers.

What's a gallery? LOL....J/K I have my photos on photobucket, I rather just keep them on there w/the rest of the photos instead of uploading them into a gallery here.

the gallery here is amazingly easy to use, as james said, is just like posting an attachment :)

There is a link to the EXD Gallery in the Navigation Bar (between Related Links and Flashchat).

I was thinking 3MB's worth of space for everyone.

A name structure/file structure is just that. Similar to your forum structure. ie "Interior", "Exterior", "Engine" etc etc....that way you could also have one for "Misc" that gets cleaned every so often, and duplicates of things could also be minimized if ppl looked through the pics and used the ones there before posting new ones.

I can't help it, I run a file server amongst others and this works really well for us on our image portion of the server.

Im a new member and it would greatly interest me. I signed up for carstereo.com because i liked the forum people and i could post pics of my car and installs. So now that i have a new elantra id be super interested in posting pics of it on here!

I agree that a size limit would be smart, as well as giving pro members more space. Also perhaps limiting basic members to (1) gallery and pro members unlimited or something of that nature.

Well, I was thinking to continue to just have Member Galleries, meaning everyone would upload the pics into their "own" section of the gallery.

However, I might be able to create sections that go with the forum sections.

How about have it so people can only load up to maybe 2-5mbs but the promembers have no limit.

i would use it, but i feel that pro members should have something above what regular members can have. as i have not donated, i feel that the regular members should only be allowed no more than 100mb for pics and whatnot while promembers can have 1gb or more

100MB!?? 1 GB!??!?! you're crazy dude.. hosting will only provide you with so many gigs

~5mb for non-members, and up to 15-20mb for pro's should be more than enough. Remember.. they're pictures.. pics take only about 100kb or less if you take them at the right resolution for web (800x600)

Yeah Aaron, you must be hitting it hard tonight. We have LOTS of space, but not enough to give people that much.

I think I'll go 3MB's for Regular Members and 13MB's for Pro Members (none of whom are close to their alloted 10MB's as far as I know).

Also, the software does resize if the pics are too big (I forgot what I set it at though).

i threw a couple of pics up when i got the space. It only took about a minute to upload 5 or 6 photo's and name them all. I think its cool like that. I also like some of the suggestiosn up there. give regular members some space and promem's even more :-)

All registered users now have 3MB's of gallery space to be uploaded in a "Member Gallery."

All Pro Members now have 13MB's of space.

And the moderators also got a little bit more room.

welp, ive filled up the gallery already! mainly pics of sigs that ive done for other people on other sites, a wallpaper that i used involving my car during a snowy day, and a few pics of my 01 sedan and a few of my 02 GT.
