little info so you know where im coming from

i do collections for a major agency in the country. the client i collect for is ford motor credit. ive been with the company for a year today (odd...)...

we have 2 seperate files for the ford portfolio. one is what they call ford cin05, (we call it cino) and the other is ford texas. cino is basically the whole country, minus texas. why is there a seperate file for texas? because the laws in that state make it VERY difficult for collections. texas is a debtor friendly state. im sure you'll hear people say 1 in every 2 bad debts come from texas. they arent lying

so every month im required to hit a certain ammount, which is my goal/budget, and every month i have an entry level. entry is based on pay, days in the month, etc. once you pass your entry, you can start making bonus.

well, needless to say working on ford texas makes it almost impossible to hit goal, let alone a bonus.

so back in september the client pulled our ford cino file. it was our cash file. easy to collect on, big money in it. not hard to hit 10,000 in fee (about 39k gross monthly) and easy to bonus 1k or more every month. we had some internal office issues and a couple of the collectors conduct was not professional. so ford dropped our file. we went from 30 or so collectors between cino/texas to 9-10. i luckily kept my job. we went from those 10 eventually to 3. gained 2, lost 1, gained 2, lost 2...right now we have 4 collectors on this file....we may be able to use 1 more, but right now we're pretty good...not overloaded w/ work but it keeps us busy.

well after 8-9 months of busting our *** on this texas file and showing them we are capable of getting our cash file back (and beating our 2 competitors BADLY even though we had no new accounts since september...we still killed em) they let us know today we would be getting cino back. this means we will have a lot of new business, easy money to get, and will probably take our 4 person unit up to 14-16 people...maybe a few more.

its going to be nice knowing that i wont have a problem getting the money i should be making at this place....i no longer hate this job :)
