been searchin'....

can't seem to find out if I need to use RMS wattage or peak wattage to determine amp draw.

using the ohm's law:

RMS wattage gives me a 69.44 amp draw.....cool!

peak wattage gives me a 138.88 amp draw...TOTALLY not cool!

I know I need to address some electrical issues regardless, but I am the type of dude that wants to know the proper way to calculate this.

thanks

stick with rms wattage and you'll be doing pretty good. just keep in mind though that amps are only about 60-70% efficient.

HMMM....I have heard that.....it even states that on my amps' "birthsheets". So, how does that affect my calculations?? I would divide total RMS power not by 14.4, but by 60-70% of 14.4? (9.36)?

thanks chaos

on the fosgate amps, it will tell the as/tested efficiency of the amp if that is what you are using
