Ok, so lets say i wanted to run some nice 0g wire, probobly knukonceptz wire.

Question 1: Where is the best place to run it? I see there is a tutorial for running it through the firewall, but i also see someone wrote a diy on how to run it through the gap where the drivers door opens. Which of those places would be my best bet? im not even sure this wire will fit through either, i mean its standard 0g so im assuming some of you have done this already.. so what do you think?

Question 2: will the 0g fit under the lip of the interior side molding ok? i saw some installs with 4g but havnt seen any with 0.. so will it fit, and if so, is it noticeable?

Once i get this answer i think im gonna get crackin on my amps install. I mean the factory sys isnt awefull, but its nothing compared to what im used to.. i NEED my system back up and runnin heh..

Also does anything think ill have alternator problems or light dimming or anything like that? Not sure how well these elantras deal with high draw on the batterys. I had a nice yellowtop, but i ACCIDENTALLY left it in my trade in vehicle, CAN YOU SAY OOPS!

if anyone is wondering why i need 0g, its cause my boss puts out 1400x1rms and my infinity puts out 444rms (111x4). But dont get exited about the sub power output, i have some older audiobahn excersions so the SQ is eh, but they need like 600 each and they bump pretty nice when they get it..

thanks all..

1- Use the firewall method
2- my 2g BARELY fits and also buldges in spots. Good luck with that

Thanks, i guess i can go with 2g... the knukonceptz 2g is closer to industry standard 0g i hear.. so maybe ill give that a shot. i have a 1.5f cap also, duno if that will really make a diff though, so eh.. i guess ill see... anyone on the power problems q?

i run a 1920w amp with a 1.5F cap, though i have a yellow top.

no problems so far. at all.

yeah i dont use the whole thing anymore though lol

downgraded to 2 small 10'', running them on only 2 channels of the amp at 4 ohms, haha.

I called up and spoke to JL/Kicker/Stinger about their 4G wire. Here is the skinny.. Jl and kicker have an amp rating listed on their install kits, i dont remember the number off the top of my head, but i think jl was around 75a and Kicker was 80a. But heres the well.. kicker heh- Stinger 4g is rated up to 150a. Stinger will back their 4g wire up to 3000 watts if you use a 1 farad cap per 1000 watts. So if you run a crazy 3000 watt system you can actually use Stinger 4g and they will back you 100%. So im just going to use the Stinger 4g and a few farad cap for my system. Then i wont have to worry about the size of the wire as much... After taking a better look, im sure even 2g is really tough wit hteh elantras as was said above.. Stinger told me to run it as short as possible and use a cap and i should be just fine with 4g and its good up to 150a (the exact number of all my fuses added up, what a ko-inkidink!), and if i do not use a cap to get 0g and just run it under the car along the brake lines or somewhere and up behind a brake light or anywhere wires go into the trunk. (if there even are any wires that do that on the elantra, i dont know, i havnt checked..)

dude, search 2loud2k2xd. look at my audio. I have 0ga wire under the trim panel on the pass side seat. NO PROBS. and if you need to run 0ga wire for any amps, i suggest you do a dual battery set-up. cause the front batt and our weak ars alts will not be able to keep up with the draw. and i have a DIY on a dual battery set-up from my car. and dont use anything less than a 0ga if your running 3000 watts. better safe than sorry.
and DONT RUN power wires outside/under the car!!!!!!!!!!!! IF by chance something were to happen and you got hung up on something, and the 0ga under the car got cut/pinched by something, it could cause a power touching ground problem (which = sparks flying everywhere and/or possibly a fire). i know my audio and install man. ive done all my installs and do installs for people (customers/employees) at my dealership as well as friends. there is a calculator on wiring (i cant find it now, sorry). if your running a 4ga wire over 15' it WILL get warm, maby warm enough to melt and cause damage. please use a 1/0 ga wiring, please.

and i run 3000+ watts RMS and i would never trust a 4ga wire to handle all the power feed that my system requires.

Ugzz- Let me know if you need anything. I'm in the Pittsburgh area too.

I run about 1000 watts in my car and the alt. holds up just fine. I have an Optima yellow up front and a .5 cap on my sub amp. I don't have any dimming issues at night no matter what the volume is.

With the amps you have the Stinger 4GA will be fine like the reps said. I run Stinger 4GA now and have used Esoteric 4GA in the past. At one point in my past I had a Red top (prior to Yellows) and a 1 farad cap with a PPI A1200 and PPI A600 running on 4GA without any problems either.

With how cheap caps are now, I would do three along with one of those triangle shaped buss bars.

thanks 2loud, im not actually runnin 3000, thats just what the stinger line is capable of. The only reason i pointed it out is because jl AND kicker both said that under NO circumstances should you push more then those amps loads through their wire, but stingers was much higher due to the strand count and the copper amount in the wire. Stinger is actually rated higher then knukonceptz for those familiar with them..

I will be pushing 1500-1600rms once everything is setup and if i get a DVC sub later on ill be pushing about 2100-2200rms if i ever bridge my mono block down to 1ohm. (doubtful, but possible)

And hatda,
Kickass, a fellow Yinzer!
I might contact you sometime to talk about your setup a bit more and maybe even check it out if we can work that out sometime, sounds pretty sweet. I might be interested in doing a yellow top again if i need it. I had one in my old ride, but i traded the car in and left it .. :P live and learn heh..

Well see how bad my dimming is after i get everything all setup. Im actually going to be picking up a hybrid cap thats 5F just cause its at a good price and i cant pass it up. Also it looks way cooler then just a plain cap like i see everywhere and i want to have at least ONE stand out feature lol. (Which is tough to do when you have 0 cash AND 0 time!)

I have Stinger 1/0 Guage wire running under my trims
I have them running down passenger side (your drivers side) - I made opening on car computer grommet which mounts in tyre wheel well wall a liltle bigger and squeezed cable through grommet then run conduit pipe over power cable and cable tied upto the original harness where it comes out just under the battery

After the rear trim i also used conduit tubing to run cable through a gap to boot area so there would be no risk of grounding out wires

I have A single 4g Stinger HPM series power wire run from the front battery to the second in the trunk, and i dont seem to have any problems with heat. Not to say it dosen't heat up at all or anything, but it hasn't caused any problems.

Just got my stinger 4g in (sorry no pics of the install, but ill get some up of the final result)

I wired up my 444rms infinity amp and installed my jl 6x9s and infinity 5.25s into the front. (ok fine, you caught me, i didnt do it all myself, i had help from a local install shop so sue me! heh)

444 watts is nothing for stinger 4g, but once i get my cap in ill be hookin up my boss 2200d to it. Then ill let you guys know how things run. Cause ill be pushing the full 1844rms watts of my system. Well see if the wire gets hot, and how well the cap helps with the headlights (which im pretty sure will dim with that much power). If i still have any issues ill either replace the front batt with a yellow top, or ill just get an isolator and install either a yellow top or a stinger dry cell in the back.

This is all in due time cause im going up to niagara for a while and i will need the trunk space for the moment, so for the moment ill just stick with the interors.. those damn jl 6x9s sound like mini subs anyway! -key word there is MINI hehe, but still
