Acura's Lowest-Priced Car a Goner
Acura got rid of its popular Integra in the 2002 model year. Now, after just five model years, the Integra's replacement—the RSX coupe—is getting the boot, too.

Officials said the RSX, with a starting price around $20,000, ends after the 2006 model year. With a youthful group of buyers, the RSX is Acura's lowest-priced car by some $8,000. There's speculation that Acura will replace the RSX with a coupe version of the next Acura car up in the food chain, the TSX.

Acura has been working for years to move upscale, and any RSX replacement is likely to be priced higher than the sporty, high-value RSX that has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

In addition, Acura is bringing out a compact sport-utility crossover in summer 2006 called RDX that's expected to appeal to some youthful buyers, and it will be priced lower than Acura's only current SUV, the $37,000 MDX.

Lastly, RSX sales have been declining and totaled just 6,186 for the first four months of 2006.

Yep, knew that one was coming for a while. AHM told us that about 3 months ago.

gotta love how the hybrid car that gets the best mpg ever has horrible sales... especially in a time of record rising gas prices....

and the Lincoln LS. I hate lincolns (work with them now, sucks) but I always liked that one.

I do hate to see the GTO go. The RSX isn't needed anymore. Why pay MORE than the new civic Si for the same car. Plus it never came with a frickin' armrest.

Also, I think it would be neat to see what a TSX coupe would look like (as mentioned in the article).

The TSX really needs about 30hp more and 80ft-lbs of tq to really stand out from the crowd. Right now it's a bit underpowered, especially the auto.

i had a feeling that the GTO would be short lived with a pricetag like that. they need to bring back the transam... that is one car that i could look past the ugly *** nostrils for fact of shear power (2k2 TA w/ Ram Air 325hp)

^ agreed...but the germans and italians have something that the US will never have...good engineers! they also have a passion for making their cars...i dont think that mexicans making fords share that passion...

sucks about the carrara gt...by far my fav...the ford gt was to be short lived they said that when it came out...the GTO needed to look like a GTO inorder to sell...even though the holden v8 is badass its not what americans want...or atleast that group of individuals...the new mustang hit it on the head! the new camaro should do the same....but where to go from there??

Good, I agree with Bob, it doesn't make sense to buy one now with the Civic Si out.

As far as the others, who cares, nothing I would have purchased anyway.

dead on aaron, the h1 was the ****

but nobody, i guess, wanted to pay $110,000 for it... they can at least make it something you can get if you want it...
