I was just curious and wanted to know more about the elantra alarm. I have an 01 and it still has the stock alarm. What does it even protects against? Window shatter sensor?

....OR....leave the windows down, and try to unlock/open the doors, hood, trunk, (maybe even) fuel door and youll find out yourself...

When my car got broken into (luckily they just smashed the window and ran) the alarm went off... so I'm happy it scared them off and i didnt lose much except for 50 bucks in glass....

ya know this is an ironic thread, we've had our car for about 4months and I've never hit the button, never had it go off. But within the past 2wks I've been accidently pushing the button, was washing the car sat. and I went to unlock the car through the window and BEEP BEEP BEEP I was like "wtf is that!?!!??!!?" then it hit me "god thats my car! where are the damn keys". I'm digging it but see the need for an upgrade due to any future internal upgrades. I think it depends on your area of where you live & work.

CT, the same thing happend to me. Someone smashed by 05GT window and tried to steal my deck but got nothing except leaving my car a mess. That is a nice price for the glass. Everyplace quoted me like $200-300, ended up just getting it done at the dealer because I needed a loaner and wanted to make sure the window was installed properly.

Alarms are pretty much useless today, i hear them go off all the time and no one pays attention.

They're not... maybe the person smashed the glass then opened the door from the inside, which triggered the alarm, and he slammed the door as he ran off?

The only car alarm I ever paid any attention to was one of my neighbor's in our previous place. It was a totally random honking of the horn - so you thought someone was just outside sitting in their car honking the horn, people always looked to see who was honking.
