Right now I drive a slow 94 civic ex and the only mod I have is an intake. I figure no matter what I do to it, it will always still be slow. So thats why im switching to a Elantra pretty soon. Im hoping this month. I looked around the site and it seems that Elantra respond to simple bolt on pretty well. Everyone on this forum seems to have good taste too unlike most Civic owner. Anyways I found a 01 Elantra GLS 5spd with 93k miles for 3,900 from a private owner. Im gonna go check it out this week and hoping it still in good condition. After I find myself an Elantra I can now call civic a ricer.

No offense, but the civic has alot more possibility for speed. If you're looking to trade based on power, I would stay with your current civic, or get something with a bigger engine...

Im still keeping my Civic though by the way. I think my Civic feels slow because it lacks torque.

Good choice.. You will enjoy the elantra.. Just make sure you check everything out on it before you buy it.

Welcome to the site! I hope you get an Elantra like you want.

But, I do agree with ricerrx7, the Elantra is also a slow car in general. Take a test drive to see what you think.

Yea lol but the elantra is quicker then a 94 basic civic with just a intake.

Good choice on the 5spd. The automatics (in my experiance) are about a second slower in the 1/4th mile than the manual.

The elantra similarly modded will out-perform a Non-Si civic.

Good job and welcome.

you could just save that money and just have a B16 swapped into the civic. You'll have more possibilities with that than you ever will with the elantra.

Actually you could get a b18... I have a dx right now and am just waiting for something to go bad in it so I can swap a B16 into it. Can't afford a B18 and the B16 serves me for what I want.

or you could go balls out and put a boosted H22A in the biatch and go very fast in a straight line...

I didn't recommend the H22A because thats acutally a fairly difficult swap. I know the B16a2 is a direct swap and I'm pretty all the B series are direct swaps.

just about all B series will be a direct swap, and the H22 is a challenging swap, but its also worth it...there is a red sol runnin around in clarksville TN with a N/A H22A (lol) and he was dusting boosted B16's and a couple B18's (i watched em all)
