Hi everyone, I just joined the forum today.

I've got a purple-ish 2002 VE model at the moment. Unfortunately it's an auto, but that how things go with a wife sometimes

After this post I'll have a browse, however in the mean time perhaps someone could point me to some threads or give me some info about the options for turbocharging my Elantra.

My mind is kind of set on the Alpine Developments kit (not the decompressed one, I despise decompression plates) which I'm sure many here are familiar with. My question is if there's other "complete kits" on the market, preferably in Canada.

I don't want to do internal work (yet), I'm not looking for 400 hp or anything obviously, just something to get me going. I'm not a fan of supercharging, I prefer turbocharging (not trying to start a debate hehe ;) )

Thank you

Alright, Alpine it's going to be then.

I noticed in your sig that you appear to have experience with them. How did their kit work out for you?
Which one did you get?
How was the installation?

They tell me it comes with all instructions necessary - is this actually the case? I noticed that someone posted some wiring diagrams so I am wondering if this is the case.

They don't have an intercooler for the auto yet so I'll have to wait and get that later, they assure me they're working on it. For $2250 US, it seems like a great deal to me...

Ok I'll get pics, but who wants to see a stock 02 Elantra with tint and a CAI? lol

if only it were that easy...what do they use for fuel management and timing?

BBT turbos rule!!! you will have to get a torque converter and tranny cooler to run the turbo effieciently and no blow up your tranny

Indeed, this was my first thought after oogling the pictures :D - so I emailed Gude about it.

Turbos do rule, I agree.
As far as the TQ Conv & cooler...
Alpine seemed to think my stock setup would be fine since I wouldn't be pushing huge power levels at all, I made sure to talk to them about that. I don't have the funds to pump into the trans unfortunately. :(

Welcome to the site.

One piece of advice. Don't "go turbo" until you know you can afford it. Or you'll be like the handful of others that got 90% of the way and then had to sell everything. It's sad. Don't be one of them.

Thanks for the advise SuperGLS.

I was under the impression (perhaps falsely?) that after shelling out $2250US for the Alpine entry level kit, I would be set for a bit until I wanted to do more work. Is this not realistic? :(
