Well, it's official...the Elantra is no more and I am now the proud owner of a 2006 Blue Chevy Impala. I needed a car without a manual transmission because my fiance can't drive one and I hate shifting in downtown traffic plus I wanted something with some more "cush for the tush" for my commute and when I travel. I have been a Chevy fan for many years (I know some think otherwise of GM) and my fiance's 2002 Cavalier has never given us any trouble, even though performance wise it is an absolute turd (cannot corner to save it's life and is like a drunken turtle trying to go up a hill.) Although I didn't do nearly as many mods to my Elantra as most people did on this forum, all the information on this board was great and the members were awesome whenever I had a question. The DIYs were awesome and saved me a lot of time and frustration when installing my amp. Good luck to everyone.

Congrats and good luck. Did you get the V8 or V6 in the Impala?

3.5L V6. Needed something decent on gas and I couldn't afford the SS. Plus me + extra hp is a bad idea...I got the Elantra to 115, so only god knows what I would do with a V8!

Good choice of cars! That thing is atank and will run forever!

The 3.5L is the new base engine, replacing the 3.4L (the 3.5 is a little bigger, but same engine)The 3.8L has been "upsized" to the 3.9L and then the SS gets the 5.3L V8.

I am glad people are raving about the Impala's durability...hopefully it matches my Accent and Elantra in that category and doesn't act like my Dodge Daytona did.

If it helps, it's platform mate the Grand Prix has many many many cars lasting into the 280-320k mile range.

At first I didn't like it, it looks sort of "regular." But after seeing a lot of them, I've changed my mind, they still look regular, but that's a good thing.

Good luck with it.

Now you can scare people into thinking your a cop.. sweet!! Get black rims and a cell phone antenna thing.

Also I thought they all came 3.8.. didn't realise they had the 3.4 option.

I just drove a Impala 1LT 2 weeks ago.It was dark red. I was shocked at how nice it rode. It had about 7,500 miles on it and was a lease return for another dealer( we were detailing it for them). What model did you get? LS or 1LT?

Laser Blue 1LT...pics to follow when I can wash it...it has rained every day since I bought it and it looks like absolute poo with all the water spots.

Make sure you keep an eye on the lower intake gasket, and if it starts to leak get it fixed before you run out of warranty. It's about $700+ to fix customer pay.

Hey, "laser blue" looks like "Impulse Blue" for us in the goat herd. GM recycles everything, don't they? :D

Nice ride man, grats on the purchase!
