He must have an alpha 1.6L which sucks... the 2.0 betaII is just enough to get the elantra moving...

What makes you think that? I'm fairly sure it would be a Beta 1.6l.

I think you have a J2 Elantra, not a XD.
What colour is it?
But yeah, save your money on the bling bling, and do a 2.0L Beta swap.
Best bang for the buck!
