ok well not really, so me and my dad bought the car new after the engine fell out of his taurus. had it for a while and gave it to my gramps. he's goin back to russia the time i get my license and wont be needing the car anymore so, back to me it goes!!

its a 2001 gls, champagne color, with simple(i don't think you can call them mods but..) tinted windows, roof rack, skulls for windshield wiper fluid that light up red. unfortunatly its an automatic but w/ a shift kit, it shoudl GO! :drive:

i've been a member for quite a while but never introduced myself.

please guys, i've had enough hatred on other forums so...u noe..

Welcome! There's lots of info here to help you get more power out of the car. But did you actually find a shift kit? Or are you just assuming that someone makes one for the Elantra? As far as I know there aren't any available...

i'm located in rockville md so.... this forum is definatly one of the most welcoming and best info forums i've been on!
my gramps has a JVC Kameleon head unit hes giving to me and im planning on installing and i have an Escort PASSPORT 8500. my best mods other than a window tint job. as for the shift kit, i've seen an ad for a hydromatic(or something like that) shift kit for an elantra that shifts faster than a stick. ill look again and keep you guys updated.

If you're about to turn 16, get rid of the radar detector and drive the speed limit. I know you're thinking "Don't worry, I know how to handle a car." You don't. I'm sorry. Get some real experience behind the wheel before you drive in a manner that would warrant the use of a radar detector.

naw man, i understand, the radar detector is in my dads ram anyway. after seeing a saturn fold up like an acordian on the highway, i decided to "take it to the track" so i wont be doing any streetracing anytime soon. i follow my friends footsteps. he has a 370hp forester and only does the racing on the track even though the car is his everyday ride.

Even if you can "shift faster than a stick" you still have that hydraulic mess of a torque converter and one less gear to slow you down. That just seems like your asking for trouble with the auto later on. Let the trans do its thing and make improvements elsewhere. Like a CAI with a bypass, thats wytch's first mod recommendation.

Also performance mufflers, and the other fun mods you can do. I had LED windshield washers from walmart on my car, but after the bolt on one snapped, I put the stock ones in and i'm smacking myself for ever taking them out. They spray the washer fluid SO MUCH NICER then the ****ty LED's...

lol! scared to take the dash apart...

try to pry the bellhousing off of the block when 3 out of 4 motor mounts are missing and your engine is dangling in the air, in order to get to your clutch pressure plate :)

no thanks, but does anyone have a wiring diagram for the oem wires? i can't find one anywere and am making my own harness.

nvm, i just totally proved my dad wrong. he thought there was one posotive power and one negative but i told him there had to be a bypass, he didnt belive me. then after about an hour of frustration, he tried my method and it worked. now we can't firgure out which speaker is which so technicaly, i still need the diagram. thanx.

ok nvm again. we got it! deck almost in the car! everything is hooked up!

-comeon guys, this was my first big instalation so i was a bit nervous terring into a perfectly good car!! ill have pics up some time soon. probably just link it to webshots but well c!!
