Which would you guys recommend?

Polk Audio or Boston acoustics.

I am planning on buying one of the component systems from Crutchfield. I really don't know which one to get as of yet. A few people say Boston while a few others say polk.

From the searches I have gathered that front door speakers are 5 1/4 and hatch speakers are 6 1/2, am I correct?

I just ordered the cable to hook up my video ipod. My stock Kenwood won't play anything now, it stalls, spits and whines with any/every kind of CD. So with some of the settlement money from the rear end job a tahoe gave me I bought an ipod. I am thinking I should just have saved up for an in dash dvd player. But I may be trading this car in for an '07 STi.

If you're possibly trading your car, why would you want to spend a lot of money on speakers?

I'll let others chime in on which is better since I'm not a car audio person, but if I had to pick, I would go with Boston Acoustics. Some of their high end speakers sounds amazing to me, but they're also a bit overpriced.

For a cheaper line, Polk. But if you are gonna spend the big money on either, get boston!

i atest the clarity. personally i think cadence and diamond are definately the top 5 in sound quality along with CDT, Image Dynamics, and Rainbow. Go for some diamond speakers.

How can you talk about a top 5 without focal? Listen to the utopia be line and then tell me your speakers are cleaner.

Focal would be on par with most of those brands. I cant really say ones the best and ones not. Each brand has their own pros, cons, price, power, etc.
I have to admit i havent heard much from focal, ive heard about 2-3 sets of their speakers and they seemed alright.

Go for the Boston Acoustics, I have 6.5" components in front & 2-way 6.5" in rear running off a JL e6450 6-channel amp w/ dual 10" JL sub. I have had JBL, Alpine, Kenwoods...the Boston's are in their own field.

I have Boston pro5.5 and love them alot! They rock. If you are wanting a cheapier speaker than get the polk. If you put a mid range amp they really rock. All have is mid range right now, and it is like the singer is right in the car with me. And these were bought back in 2002... :)

Well, JMO!
