View Full Version : Wiring up my new subs??
so I got 2 infinity ref series 12"s (dual coils) and I have a A6004T audiobahn amp it says on there website it can do 2 x 300 RMS @ 4 ohms.. how would I go about wiring this up considering its a 4 channel amp and the subs are for 2-8 ohms i know u can do it since i did it for my kicker L5's awhile back

The subs must be wired in series/parallel. I could explain it in text but its easier just to look at it: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161 its the 2nd one down on the left.
As for using that 4CH amp, bridge 2 channels together to represent 2 channels and wire them to your subs/box.
ya I looked and it only shows Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 1 Ohm.. i needa wire them Dual-2 ohm subs @ 4 ohms

its on the left side, i wired 2 dual 4ohm subs to 4ohms yesterday its pretty easy. look again at that link its the second one down on the left it says wired series/parallel.

need to wire 2 dual 2 ohm subs to 4 ohms.. but im sure i can use that first picture at the top right and just bridge them + + - - to each sub

this is impossible, however it don't think it's really what you're after. if you're using all 4 channels of the amp for the 2 subs, connect one sub to the front channels bridged and the other sub to the rear channels bridged. for each sub connect the voice coils in series (top left pic). this will give each bridged channel the 4 ohm load it is rated for.

Are your subs dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm?

they are made to run 2 and 8... but so where the L5's i had (made to 2 I had run 4 it was just tricky wiring)

As ChaosGT mentioned above, you are running a four channel amp. To get the max power out of the amp you need to bridge both the front and rear channel at 4 ohms.
However, I checked the subs you mentioned and they are dual 4 ohm subs. One sub with the coils in series is going to give you 8 ohms. One sub with the coils in parallel is going to give you 2 ohms. If you do one sub to the front and rear channel each, you are not going to get max power; in series: about 150 watts because you are showing the amp 8 ohms. If you show the amp 2 ohms, the amp is not stable and you could cook it.
If you try to hook both subs together, you have three possiblities: 1 ohm, 4 ohms, 16 ohms. Now when you hook both subs to the amp, you will only be using the front or rear channel. 1 ohm will kill the amp most likely, 4 ohms will show the 300 watts, and I'm not even going to talk about 16 ohms.
Unless your subs are dual 2 ohms, you cannot use this amp for max power unless you go below the manufacturers recommendations.
