I would like to remove the stock 6.5"s from the doors on my GLS, then add CDT Midbass/Midrange speakers in their place. I actually like the stock tweeters and would like to keep them. Will this work? I'll be amping the CDT's and might be adding a high pass or a CDT crossover set.
Thanks for your help,
Jason

just as long as the speakers you are looking at aren't too deep it will work

Yeah they'll work, they are the midranges from the same component set I was going to purchase. Should I change anything in regards to the configuration of the stock tweeters or add a CDT crossover or high pass?
Thanks,
Jason

Any tweeter from CDT is going to be 10x better then the stock tweeter. I think once you take the door off and look at the quality of that tweeter you'll change your mind.
Also, are you going to be amping these components? It is indeed possible, but chances are your'e going to use an amp to reach the drivers RMS and i'm not sure what the power handling is for the stock tweeter, but it probably isn't a lot seeing how it was designed to work with that week stock hyundai stereo.

^^^Agreed. The stock may sound okay, but the aftermarket will be much, much better.

Chances are you can find a component SET from cdt for a tad bit more money then just buying the drivers.
I got my cadence alluminum drive 6.5 component set for like 75-80 bucks from their site, the set usually retails for around 200.

if you need and amp to power them, i highly recommend a profile CA600. I just had mine bench tested and it put out almost exactly what it was rated at. It put out 148.66.... and it was rated at 150w rms x2 @4ohm
Got mine for 75 bucks shipped off their site: http://www.profilecaraudio.com/amplifiers.htm
I'm now a big fan of the smaller profile amps (to power components, not too sure about subs). The build quality (so far) seems very durable and has a beautiful finish. All in all if you shop around you can get that amp, plus a set of components for about 150-200$ and that's about as good as it gets.
any of yinz ever bought from woofersetc??, ive heard of em before but some of their prices are sooo good they scared me, kinda thought they might be a too good to be true kinda place hehe

The prices on wooferetc are OK, they aren't the best but they're alright. Woofersetc.com is a large company that a lot of people have dealt with. I've bought from them once and it was pretty basic. Whatever you buy from them, they will ship you the product, update you when it indeed has shipped out, and the product will be new.
I always think its a plus if the company has a phone number and lists their adress location, which woofersetc.com does. That's word from the bird.
BTW: Those component sets i listed are just examples, you can find them cheaper on ebay or other companys.

Those CDT components are what I was considering purchasing, will they run ok for now off of hu power? or wait till I have a amp for them?
Thanks,
Jason

i dunno how they do it, but that set doesnt clearly state wether the 100w is RMS or Peak. If it's 100rms you need an amp, if its 100w peak and lets say (50-60rms) you wont really need an amp, but i would highly recommend it.

I hope you're joking.
since i dont know you that well yet, ill assume that was a joke also.. but if not ill just go ahead and say this: Boss's coax and comps are utter poo. There subs can give you a little bump for the $ but are still poo in comparison to others around the price.. now the amps they make are ok, but not great, many of them are over rated, such as saying 100watt and only being closer to 80. so there not Killer overrated, but still. I have a 2200D thats 1400rms, but im told from some dealers that its closer to 1200.. however i think 1200rms @ 2ohm is still the Shizz for that amp only costin me like $190 bucks on ebay, and tis 1ohm stable also.. (yeah as much as i knock ebay cause ive been jipped b4, i still use it hehe) So if you want some real power for cheap, boss can do the trick. If your lookin to power anything other then subs, i hear the sq on the amps is pretty crap also, not the worst, but pretty crap.
On the other hand there is a dood on another forum who has won like a TON of competitions for sound and he runs nothing buy pyramid all around, pyramid comps in front and back pyramid amps and pyramid subs ina custom box tuned for the pyramids. He basically goes on to explain how even cheap stuff can sound great when its done right, but the time it takes to make things perfect is grueling. wish i could find the link, it was a pretty cool thread.
then theres like a ton of people agreeing, how its more the install then the equipment blah blah blah

i'm sorry it does come down to engineering and product materials...can you make pyramid sound decent...sure...if you have never heard anything else before...i'm sorry but you have to pay to play! tis the way with car audio or anything that has to do with a car period...
you can use the stock tweets...but they need to be crossed over they run parallel with the stock woofer...i think they might have a resistor on them...
i was pushing the stock fronts with my eclipse amp 85 x 4 and it sounded decent...just as long as the gain is adjusted correctly.

Not my area of expertise, but since the stock tweets were mentioned, I thought I would throw in that the resistor for the stock-tweeters is in the wiring to them in the door. You can change out the front door speaker and leave the stock tweeter alone, and everything should be fine (with the tweeter). If you are putting a cross-over in, You I beleive you should do it after the wiring-split in the door, otherwise if you do it before that split, you'll be sending out the same signal to the OEM tweeter and your door speaker.

When I did my system I left my tweeters alone. I think they sound great to this day.

When i said "i hope you're joking" i was being serious. Anyone who is exited about getting a set of BOSS comps soon is def misinformed. Boss is probably one of the worst audio companys of all time. Even if you do adjust everything perfect, a set of pioneer components that cost like 25-30$ more will blow them away completely.
Boss components are not even worth the time it takes to install them. Once you put them in and notice that you're factory comps have almost identical if not better SQ, you'll know what i mean. I can almost garauntee you will not be satisfied, and you will be pissed off because you have to take that dang door panel off all over again.
Don't get me wrong you can do thing economically and make a great system with something like pioneer, but Boss is crossing the line big time. If you're looking into some cheap speakers that sound great, try some pioneers. I don't think anyone here can disagree that pioneer makes some of the most affordable, reliable, quality equipment around. Personally i think their 3-way 6x9's sound amazing, even when compared to infinity and rockford.

Well in that case, if you think sony xplod and boss stuff sounds good, when you throw in some pioneer or cadence or cdt audio stuff in there you will sh!t your pants.
