I was wondering if anyone here has dyed their floor mats. Im going for an all black look in the interior and i want to dye my floor mats black. If anyone can let me kno if this has been done or if its just an allaround bad idea. Thanx for the input.

I dont think anyone on here has done it, but Ive read about people dying there carpet on forums.probetalk.com. They use the RIT Fabric Dye found at Walmart. I t works pretty well. The best results were found when they soaked the carpet in a tub with the dye.

RIT will dye anything... before you fill your bathtub and dye a ring into it, buy one of those under-bed platic storage containers (like the rubbermaid ones) and use that for your dyeing bin.

In my WalMart, the RIT dye is in the same aisle they keep things like laundry detergent and bleach. Did you try looking there?

If someone asks what you're looking for, tell them the stuff to make a tie-dye shirt, as that is what it is commonly thought of being used for.

Also, I was skimming over that site, and it said for best results with black, use HOT water.

Seriously, RIT is the only game in town. Every Wal Mart I've been in has had it in the aisles with the detergent, usually on the top shelf. Rows of bottles lines up like soldiers. If not there, check the craft section. If not there, go to Michaels or some other craft store. If all else fails, call a local bridal shop and ask them where to get it. They'll know because they send brides to get it for their shoes all the time.

Don't order it online. It's not expensive enough to make it worth paying for shipping.
