Do you own a motorcycle?
If so what type? ie Year?, Make?, Model?, CC's?, Color?
What is your expierince level? ie How many years?
Your reasons for buying it?
Also what is your favorite/dream bike?
I'll start it off:
I just bought my first motorcycle less a month ago it is a Black 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I have only ridden it once when I drove it home from the dealership 17 miles. I had never been on a motorcycle before (seriously I didn't know how to start it or where the clutch was or anything :hand: ) and it took me only two minutes on it before I rode it home.
I will probably eventually buy a Yamaha RZF-R6 because it looks F-N cool and it's under my 700cc max.
I bought my Ninja 250R because:
-It has a high resale value (depreciates very slowly)
-Gas milage is is around 76mpg!
-Super light and perfect for learning
-MSRP of only $2999
-Most importantly I saw the 250R as the Elantra of the Motorcycle world

After seeing American Chopper on the Discovery channel, I really want to buy a bike. My wife says no, and anything available domestically is bloody awful and I'm not interested in Jap racing bikes. Someday I plan to buy one though.

1993 Honda CB750 Nighthawk in that really amazing blue. Had the bike for 9 years now. It really doesn't fit any of those catagories as it is an inline DOHC 4, but a more upright ride position that I enjoy.

there is no way i could own a bike...i drive way to fast with four wheels...i drove my brother in laws suzuki 600r (i think...dont know bikes) he gave a quick tutor session in my driveway...and i drove around real slow....got onto my back roads...almost killed myself at a stop sign...couldnt slow down fast enough...got confused with the controls...after about ten minutes i got used to it....cranked on the throttle...i got up to about 75 on my road...and i backed off...the accleration is nice...but man i would definetly kill myself...i know my limits.

I have a 1982 Honda CM200T I didn’t really buy it a friend of mine gave it to me because he could not get it to work. I got it to work and I took it all a part for paint. I painted the gas tank now all I have to do is put on the clear.

Already 21 voters thanks for the quick response. I would like to see a forum for motorcycles right underneath the "Other Cars" forum. I put it in the site suggestions forum so if you have the time please check it out and second the motion.
PS
Thanks to whoever moved this poll it was kind of noobie of my to put it in the Official EXD poll forum as it doesn't have anything to do with the Elantra. Though it being in that forum did get it much more attention (being on the homepage and all).

How come there isn't a "No, because I don't want one" option?
That's my pick. Although the gas mileage is pretty good.

I voted no.. I have no desire to own one, I rode on one once and i'll NEVER do it again.

Rckozma,
I usually don't like cruisers, but damn that's nice!
I haven't seen a whole lot of Choppers like easy rider style in quite some time those are intereresting and look comfortable.
Super,
If motorcycles = other cars then I guess
"No, because I don't want one" = no they're unpractical
 ^Inside joke (unless you've poked around the site suggestion forum recently)^

Thanks, it is probably the only Harley I would own and the only one that is liquid cooled - 1130cc's / 120 HP.

I dont own one right now but when the next tax season comes around I will get one. I just want to get a used bike just so I can ruff ride. Alot of you might know what that means. I want to stunt it out so I can do wheelies and endos and not have to worry if I drop it. I actually have a question. What is the fastest you have gone on a bike. I topped out at 140 on my boys ninja on the access road of the freeway without a helmet and my eyes where watering like hell so that is actually why I slowed down. At that speed on a bike the only thing you can see is directly in front of the bike basicly tunnel vision. Damn I cant wait till I get my bike. I have been riding them since I was 13 years old and started on my 50cc honda. After that I went to a 125cc kawi which had big nuts.

I have a Suzuki GS450E street bike, but for me the most fun on two wheels is on my 2004 YZ250F. The third bike is my old 1981 YZ125....the first year of a water cooled racer. Still runs awesome and is older than most kids at the track these days.

Harley turned me off a bit when I went and talked to them, nothing against them of course, but a motorcycle expresses individuality, so I bought this....

What is so great about a 250 ninja? My elantra can probably beat that little thing. Evan as a begginer you will want more just a couple of months after getting it. Dont get me wrong I never rode on one so I could not tell you what the ride is like. After starting streat bikes on 600cc bikes I could not imagine ridding on one.

yeah, 1997 cbr F3 600cc with 4800 origional miles. fresh ams-oil 10-40 motorcycle oil, hp4 honda coolant, oem air filter, new fuel filter, cleaned/lubed chain, tightened chain, new ngk plugs. KBB lists this at 4500.00 with 12,000 miles. i have 4800 origional miles and asking 4700.00. the maitinence alone cost me 180.00 (parts only). if you were to get all that done at a shop it would be about 500.00+.

Nice bike but if I was going to get something that old I would get a ZX6R. My boy had one that had a jetted carb, upgraded sprockets, and the front was dropped an inch and D A M N that thing was quick. Hit 140 and did not even know. I am actually looking for either 2000 + R6 or R1 or a 636. My boy has the special edition 2006 636 with the candy red rims. He did not want to let me ride it even though I have been riding for way longer than him but he did a wheelie on it and brought it too high and layed it down and ****ed it up before he even got his plates in the mail. OH WELL!!!!!!!!!!

HaHa you wish.
-The 2006 Ninja 250R has an MSRP of $2999 makeing it the least expensive of the sportbikes.
-MPG for a Ninja 250R is 55mpg city and 75mpg highway.
-Dry Weight is: 304 lb.
-0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) 5.75 s
-1/4 mile 14.6 s @ 88 mph
-Holds it's value extremely well.
-Is probably easier than any other bike to learn on.
And it's not the dawoo of bikes maybe the Elantra of bikes or actually better  .
What is so great about a 250 ninja? My elantra can probably beat that little thing. Evan as a begginer you will want more just a couple of months after getting it. Well the fact that they have elantra's on this site that will beat it in the 1/4 mile says everything. Not meaning to diss your bike just putting my opinion out. As far as calling it a sportbike I guess you can call it that but I had a kawi 125cc dirt bike that could bang on that 250 so that is why I am not really amazed by anything the 250 can do.
SLVR2003
07-02-2006, 04:49 PM
Yeah, but can your Elantra?
The 0-60 is more than decent.
I don't take any offence to it, you're entitled to your opinion. I read quite a few magazines and a lot more reviews online and they all spoke very positively about the 250R.
Dirt bikes are fine but I wouldn't want to ride one as a daily. The 250R is obviously styled after the sport bike and is light weight and comforable.
What is so great about a 250 ninja? My elantra can probably beat that little thing.

That's cool but I give you three more months before you are looking to get a bigger bike. That is just the way it goes. You feel how quick they are and you just keep wanting to go quicker. I want an R1 does 0-60 in like 2 sec flat and 0-100 in like 4 1/2 sec. Now that is quick but it is also deadly!!!!!!

3 Months f*ck no! I'm not crazy.
I thought about getting a Busa for my 1st bike but I liked the 250R better J/K.
I'm thinking a Yamaha YZF-R6 for my second bike then maybe just maybe an R1.
But I'm a family man with a 2 year old and I wouldn't ride anything but a Ninja 250R unless I lived way out in the country away from all these F-N crazy drivers who have never heard of the term "blind spot" and the women out here like the Snobsdale B*tches who's husbands though it would be a good idea to buy them an Escalade or Excursion and unlimited minutes on their cell phones.
When I get off my bike my neck hurts from looking all over the place, my head moves so fast looking in all directions people probably think I have a tick lol. Too F-N scary for me. These days I think Bikes should only be used as a recreation vehicle not a daily driver basically just to minimize the amount of time you're on it.
That's cool but I give you three more months before you are looking to get a bigger bike. That is just the way it goes. You feel how quick they are and you just keep wanting to go quicker. No it rides and sounds like a sport bike only more comfortable and way lighter & way easier to manuver. It's fairly quiet and mellow but you can add stuff to get a better/louder sound.
So i am looking at these 250's and i got one question...does it ride like a dirtbike? i guess 2 questins, how des it sound?

Never got into flat-put speed on a bike. I like living too much. I started my street bike life with the 750 I have now. It's comfy to ride for extended periods of time, it's fast enough to get me killed and handles fine. For me, it's not about the speed, it's about the overall experience of being on two wheels and experienceing the ride.
I get so exasperated with kids who get on an overpowered bike and get themselves hurt/mangled/killed because of stupidity and inexperience. Buying a 'busa as a first bike is ludicrous. You are NOT going to be able to control it with your inexperience and are going to kill A.)yourself or B.) someone else.

07-10-2006, 08:06 PM
I dont care how long I have ridden bikes I will never get on a busa. Why not just ride a fat chick cause I only weight 150 lbs. I want a 600cc or a 750cc to stunt out and get real good than I will get an R1. I used to ride my boys 1000cc V-Twin and used to have fun but I still knew my limits though!!!!!!!!!
