anyone? i got annoyed with the "do you want to upgrade now?" thing every time i signed on, so i did the upgrade...since then, AIM wont connect. it goes thru step one of signing on, times out, and says "the AIM service can't be reached". i try removing AIM and installing different versions, same thing...cant seem to find any support for it on the AOL site...is anyone else having issues or is it just me. if anyone can help, id appreciate it

if you want to use aim until we get yours figured out you can use aim express... you just log on through aim.com under services
try doing this
on the sign in screen.. you'll see a set up button. click that
navigate to the "connection" area.. should be under "Sign On/Off"
Click "Auto Configure".. this tends to fix problems on my end whenever its having trouble w/ my wireless router. I've noticed sometimes that value will change from its default:
login.oscar.aol.com port 5190
to something like
127.0.0.1 (which is basically pointing back to your own computer.. which is why it cant sign on)
of course.. that value may be different on yours.. instead of 127.0.0.1 you could be getting something like 192.168.1.213

heres what i got when i tried that paki..
eh.. just uninstall it and go to http://www.oldversion.com
i use AIM 5.5.3595.. one of the best version before the crap ones hit the internet
if that still doesn't work.. then i have no clue.. check to make sure nothing has changed on your firewall/router

For about a year now, with my AIM, I have been unable to change my password, change the email address registered to my screen name, or even change the capital letters to lowercase in my screen name.

tried the older version and still nothing...ugh...this is annoying
maybe its time for a replacement for AIM? http://www.trillian.cc .. its an OK program.. i prefer older AIM better because i have a copy of DeadAIM and I like the logging feature it has compared to trillians.. dunno why

ah ha...well, didn't really "fix" anything, but i did a "system restore" to last weekend, and everything is running fine again...clicked the "do not upgrade" box when it started up....everything is good
