Take a look, Modern Marvels from the History Channel did a little segment on the Alabama plant during their show about Assembly Lines.

Damn, it makes me want to get down there even more now. You know, if they made Elantras I would have been down there a long time ago.

Nice Video, thanks SuperGLS.

I really would like to visit this plan one day but it is to far from home for me.

And I have a question related to this topic..

Does anyone know how long does it takes to build a Sonata at this plan ? (starting from nothing to the entire painted car that's running)

They say they have the most advanced plan in North America and i'm curious to compare with the Alliston Hondas' plan in Canada. I know they need only 13 hours to build a Civic.

Awesome video! They said Lean Manufacturing... that is apart of our culture now!

I work in the steel industry, it would be neat to start suppling Hyundai with steel next!

The plastic injection molding facility I work at makes the Evaporative Emissions Canister for the new Sonata.

it would be cool to write them and have hyundai show us around the plant...then we could have a mini show there at the plant...big promotional thing for hyundai...that would be cool!

I've had that thought before as well.

I don't know what the Sonata owners are waiting for. Unless we could organize a meet that covered all models I wouldn't be interested in it. A bunch of XD's at the Sonata/Santa Fe plant isn't as appealing.

I still want to visit and they do offer tours. I hope to get there next year.

Might be a cool consideration for a meet in the future...

I know I know.

I've wanted to go since I first heard that. Maybe if I ever get a Sonata/Santa Fe I'd be extra excited to go and just go. Since that isn't going to happen, I'm simply going to go to the plant when I get around to it.
