I saw a pre-release of this movie a couple days ago in 3D. There were only 3 scenes that were in 3D, and honestly it didn't add that much. Anyway...
I can't help but compare it to 1st and 2nd Superman movies (those were my favorite ones) and it doesn't quite measure up. Of course it was a tough act to follow. Christopher Reeve pulled off the clumsy, nerdy Clark Kent and confident villain-crushing Superman better than anyone. And I have to say Brandon Routh's performance just wasn't as good.
Nevertheless, it was a good movie. As I expected, Kevin Spacey made a great Lex Luthor. My take: if you liked Spiderman you'll like Superman Returns.

I agree it wasn't as good, but I wouldn't actually agree strongly enough to point it out. At points where he makes it obvious that he's no cassinova as Kent, and I thought he did it well. Spacey did create a marvelous Lex. Parker Posey did really well also, I laughed a lot at her and her lines. All in all, a very good movie, considering it was quite a number of years since the last one.
Either way, I've seen it twice now, and I recommend it.

^ Agreed on all points. I'd recommend it also. I'm just a tough critic because to me Superman I & II were classics.

I've heard reviews about this movie all day now.........
looks like i'm due for another trip to the movies.
How were the crowds for this movie, if it just came out this week I may wait until at least next weekend or just go really late at night.

On the night before opening night it was full, not a spare seat in the house (you know how it works, the last show of the night before opening night is always a showing of the new movie). The next night in a cheaper theatre, there was more than enough room, even enough to swing a cat. It was the 7pm showing...so seems like a good time to go.

nice......
now, not being compared to christopher reeves, was brandon routh's acting believable?
if it's one thing i can't stand it's actors over-acting or not acting enough......

yes, it was very believable. As long as you don't compare him to Christopher Reeves
