i'm hitting cecil county dragway tonight with all my mods. its the one and only time i'll be there with all the things i have on it at the moment. last time i was at the track i ran a 15.6 at 89.XX mph. my 60' was horrid at 2.5. if i can drop the 60' i CAN hit a 14. i know its possible. i will be dropping the tire pressure to 21-23 when i'm there.
mods:
exhaust = 2.25" diameter
headers- EF 4-2-1 style
intake - EF 2.75" diameter
OBX UDP
cam sprocket advanced 8 degrees
12.5lb wheels wrapped in 205/50/15 kumho 711s
ported/polished IM and TB
stage 3 XTD clutch with 11lb FW.
lets see what happens tonight guys...

well i didn't do as well as i hoped. i couldn't catch traction off the line at all. my times were consistent 15.9s with a 60' of 2.7 but my trap speed was high 80s!!! this tells me i have a def problem hooking up as my traps were where they normally are. i was launching at 3.5k which at capitol never seemed to give me problems but at cecil it did. i even had the tires down to 22psi! next time i'll try at 2.5k. i was spinning going into second tho :D i'll probably be at the track friday again to redeem myself and launch differently so more times to come.

get some of this jim. if the next track isnt hooking up, use some..
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?lang=-1&catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=19027
also jim, remember that you're not going to be able to launch the same way as when you had your heavy *** steelies on. you dropped almost 8 lbs/wheel, and went to a smaller tire. its not taking much to get those moving. i was pulling constant 2.4's with a street type launch (get going VERY easy and once moving floor it) and then when i started trying the rev up and drop it, my 2.2xx came from about a 2500rpm ease out.

thats a very good point you make about the tires and wheels evan. i didn't really take that into consideration. how fast does jegs ship out? :)

im pretty sure they do free 1-2 day shipping if its over a certain amount. if they cant get it to you in time, call and see if you can pay for it and ship it to the columbus location on main street and ill pick it up and overnight it to you and you can just paypal me the overnight $. they'll be able to get it there by tomorrow (may have some in stock) and i can overnight it tonight or tomorrow and get it to you by friday.
you got my cell #, let me know.

we'll probably be there around 7. i get off at 5 and we'll all be meeting at 6. sucks i have to work saturday morning tho cause then i can't make it a late night like last week. we were there until 11:00 last time.
on a side note: those srt-4s aren't all that special. the one guy there was running stock turbo, cams, cam gears, intake, new wastegate actuator and drag radials and was pulling a 13.4. i would think the cams and drag radials would put him lower than that since a stock one can hit 13.8.

07-05-2006, 11:30 AM
Not trying to be a tard but I hate when people say that X car will run XX.XXXX. Not all cars are built the same off the line. There is one that I know of myself that did 13.9 stock and it was an 03, lacking the LSD. My accent did 16.8 stock and when I have driven two diffrent accents, one on the same night I ran 16.8 that one I could do no better than 17.3. Nothing was wrong with it. We even got gas at the same station. The other one thats now beta swapped 17.1 was the best it could do.
Cypher
07-05-2006, 11:33 AM
i understand that but MOST srt-4s with a good driver can hit high 13s. i do know exactly where you're coming from.
ArunSenior04
07-05-2006, 12:04 PM
True but there are too many variables between the same cars. Unless both the cars are brand new, then theres alot of difference between the two that could have an affect.

OK. well i went to cecil again. my best run of the night was a 15.3 at 85.XX mph with a 2.4 60' time. the second run i had the rpms up too high.
i know the car could've dropped at least another tenth because i bogged it coming off the line the first time. oh well. i'll be the 3rd fastest N/A xd on here

I sent you a PM, but I will also post here.
I don't want to be rude, but I don't believe your 15.3 @ 85 with 2.4 60'. To run 15.3 with 2.4 60', you would need to trap 90mph, not 85.
So, please scan the slip for me.

My doubts are based on lots of experience that I have with drag racing. I never speak out of my a** and when I have doubts it's only because some of you guys believe that you can brake physics laws or get too excited when the clock at the track starts throwing errors.
I do not doubt that his car is capable of running 15.3, but he did not run 15.3@85 mph with 2.4 60'. If he had his 60' down to 2.2 or his trap speed was around 90mph, I wouldn't say anything but congratulations to him.
And what wasn't I able to do? I got my auto XD where it should be with the mods and got my tiburon to run 15.1, so what should I be jealous or dissapointed about?

Yeah, that's what I would suggest. It should work good enough to tell what it says.
And if you aren't telling the complete truth you can always photochop the slip (or pay me to do it).
Guys, all of us should know that if you are claiming a time of that low that you shouldn't even post about it without "proof." Don't get upset or defensive that people would like to see the proof.

Unless you got an ultra slloooowwwww r/t that timer didn't start (for whatever reason) until you where already moving down the track. Something was blocking a beam and you didn't trip the third or there was none. (some tracks have a third beam to keep some clown with an ultra low/long oil pan from being able to get extreme rollout) Maybe Im wrong but thats what Im seeing.

I talked to Evan, he was using the cam sprocket. I told him to go to -4 to -5 degrees, giving him the highest whp he got.

Ummm, no offence but I do not see 2.4 60' time... I see a messed time slip with 1.4 60'. I'm sorry, but this slip proves absolutely nothing, but the fact the the clock or beams were messed up for your lane at that run.
I think the timer started later after you left giving you those 1.4 60' and 9.5 1/8 mi times and speed sensors could've been reading wrong as well.
Once again, I'm not trying to offend you or anyone, but just by looking at 1.4 60' times you can see that something was wrong. If I got a slip with 1.4 60' on street tires, I would just throw it away because it would only show that something was wrong.

Ok I don't mean to jump to conclusions either, but I have to agree with OD here. If I were to guess, I'd say that you were car #647 and not #444. As evidence, i will just say that I had a buddy with an AWD talon that was upgraded to a T3 turbo, and with his 1.6 60' time he ran a 13.36 @ 96mph. I realize he was turno, which after the first 60' will make a difference, but still...a 1.435 just does not seem possible without error. As further evidence, I have provided a time slip of one of my runs back in summer 2005. I'm car #364 and I was racing my buddy in his '01 Jetta (car #363). Lol, don't mind his run...he missed 3rd gear and decided to coast the rest of the way. As you can see...MY 2.4 60' TIME netted me with a 15.803...very similiar to what #647 ran on your slip...and imo much more "elantra" like given your modifications.

the other car was an acura integra ls. i know the guy, so does cypher. he DID run as #444. Cypher is a VERY impressive driver and is very capable of pushing out a 60' time like that. my autotragic focus with stock 130 hp and only intake did a 2.1 60' and i have my time slip to prove it too.

He may be a good driver and has a really nice XD but a 1.4 60ft. umm.. no. With that r/t he would have been napping behind the wheel. Not only that but like OP says the trap doesn't match up. Something blocked the beam/beams and let him get moving. That accounts for all three of the oddball things on that slip.
