Kind of interesting. Maybe we are on our way.

As people have been thinking for the last 12-18 months it appears as if Hyundai is going to really push the next generation Tiburon (or whatever they end up calling it) up into another class. Seems like the best idea to me is to start the car around $18K for lowest end model and end near $25K for the best equipped model. With that said, I can't imagine them using a FWD platform for such a vehicle. That means the whole line would need to be RWD (from how I understand cars and car makers).

I also don't see Hyundai producing a two seater roadster for another 4-5 years as there haven't even been the slightest rumor about such a car. The second facelift on the Tiburon is coming soon (which is uncommon, but it's as if Hyundai got "stuck" inbetween what they wanted to do and being able to do it). Hopefully that can keep sales up until the new model is ready in 2008 (most likely as a 2009 model).

What about the RWD/AWD v8 they have been working on?

I've heard from other sources that the Tiburon replacement would be a more upscale sports coupe; that would play on the halo car concept. I was hoping to make the Tibby my next car, and was a little disappointed to find out it would be replaced by a more expensive model; part of its allure to me is the sexy looks at a low price.

Having said that, if its replacement will only be $25k as the report says, I might still go for it (a little expensive for what I would want to spend but may be close enough).

And ArunSenior04: wtf is the significance of the animation in your sigfile?

My sig is about the new Super Smash bros game. Super Smash Bros is a 2d w/ 3d elements fighting game that pits together some of Nintendo's most fameous characters from their own unique universes (Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, FZero, etc etc.) The new one for the Wii (next Nintendo console) is confirmed to have Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series (owned by Konami.)

Thats cool it is just I have never really been into role playing games. Dont get me wrong I did beat the first couple of Zeldas but than they just got rediculous with the sequals!!!!!!!! Just said that because the only people I know who play the Gamecube are people who have kids. How is the new nintendo supposed to be cause you know nintendo is one of the pioneers of video games and I still have the original nintendo that I play!!!!!!!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah... but, what's the significance of the guy popping out of the box?

Oh... and rear-wheel drive would be cool.

He is Snake from MGS. One of the most popular characters in gaming is set to appear in the Nintendo game. No one knew he was going to be in the game since he isnt a Nintendo character. In MGS, he hides from enemies in the box.

Now lets get back on topic.

when I went to the meet at Mid-Ohio. we were told by the Hyundai rep that the 2008 Tiburon was gonna be RWD, it was not going to have the gills and they were gonna be replaced with vents like a M3 style but larger. and thats all i can remember him saying. he didn't say what engine platform they were using or a price. I hope it isn't 25K cuz i want one.

I think Hyundai would have faired well if they released a 'halo' car a few years back. You know, the redesigned Tiburon had the right look, but not the power to turn a lot of heads. If they put a 220 HP+ engine and made it AWD, then it'd have been a 'halo' car, in my opinion. Perhaps the Tib is/was a bit too small, and a that's a reason they didn't pour too much into it.
Hell, I'd love to see Hyundai's designers create their impression of the Infinty G35 and make it looking 'Hyundai'.
The other thing that caught my attention in the full article was mention of a pick-up! That'd be sweet. But the guy said it'd either be the size of a F-150 or a Ridgeline. I'd
rather see a Hyundai (Ranger) (S10). Something small, but packs a big South Korean punch. Hey, that could be it's name. Hyundai Punch. lol Maybe not.

I am still saying the "Tiburon" will be killed off. There will be a replacement, but coming in as a more upscale car, the "Tiburon" name reputation as a cheap entry-level "sporty" car could hurt sales of something made to be a little more upscale.

I think we will gradually see all of Hyundais prices move upward as their reputation gets better and better, and they don't have to rely on having "the cheapest option" to sell cars.

Concerning the pickup, Hyundai has said all along that it wouldn't be a small Ranger sized truck because apparently they aren't profitbale.
