View Full Version : This weeks is ganna be a fun one...
And its ganna make me poor...
my car just hit 55,000 miles, and man do I get to spend a lot of money on it now... :(
-passenger window motor blew, so its stuck
-oil needs changed
-tires need rotated
-sounds like theres a fuel issue where if the car's sitting for a while and its cold it sounds almost as if its ganna stall
-tranny's been 'bucking' between shifts again latly, corroded coolent lines was issue last time
Does anyone know if theres maitnence to be done at 55k? I know at 60k theres the timing belt and other things, but is there anything at 55?
It also doesnt help that my current cell phone is the biggest POS and I need to buy a new one ASAP. Luckily though this all SHOULDN'T cost much at all, but heres hoping it doesnt.
The window motor should be covered to 60 k.There shouldnt be any maint for 55k.I usually wait til 60k to try to upsell work
Hmm, alright, hopefully thats covered, the tires I can do myself.
The oil change isnt that big of a deal, but the fuel and tranny, who knows...
what all is the 60k maitnance?
Trans service, coolant service, spark plugs, fuel induction service, pcv valve, air filter, wiper service, adjust rear brakes(drums only) timing belt and drive belts.I think that covers it.There might be a service or so that I missed but you get the point

You need to get a trans flush. I got one done on my car, and now it shifts smooth again.
Amazing, so it looks like I just gotta hold out for another 4k miles. Oil's ok for another 1k, and the motor I guess is under warrenty, and the tires me and my friend can do.
Sweet, so then it looks like my only expenses are ganna be $400 for the 60k maitnance, and ~$150 for the new phone off ebay.

On 05s you need the fuel filter changed at 52K dont know about the XDs
Well im a total dumbass and before even calling the dealership I decided to sit down and figure out why 3 windows wouldnt work but mine did, and I smacked myself as hard as I could in the head as soon as I remembered we had that stupid *** window lock button. So that takes care of the windows, the oil is good for another 1k miles, and then in 5k miles I need to do the 60k maitnance, which should take care of the tranny and fuel thing.
And I put the rims/tires on 5k miles ago and I like to do that lil 5k miles rotate the tires to get even wear.

pay the dealer to do the timing belt, but the drive belts you can do yourself in about an hour (i even did a DIY for you guys)
-Trans service - yes. change the fluid. my moms malibu shifted like **** at 110k, she changed it out, helped A LOT
-coolant service - again, yes. i still havent done mine, but should soon (70k on it now)
-spark plugs - save your money. my dealer wants like 90$ for spark plug change on my i4. you can do it yourself in about 10 minutes for 10-30$ (depending on if you use cheaper plugs or plugs from the dealership
-fuel induction service -...iffy. i havent done anything to mine and it still runs great. if you want, i hear the chevron w/ techron stuff works great
-pcv valve - probably get it changed to be safe
-air filter - do it yourself in 5 minutes and about 10$ for the filter
-wiper service - if theyre streaky, spend 12$ and 2 minutes to change them yourself...very easy
-adjust rear brakes (drums only) - up to you. mine need some servicing. if yours are quiet and working fine, you should be able to run them some more

hahahah. you can't do the timing belt yourself ;)
-All belts are going to be done by them. Im a retard when it comes to engines, so im not even ganna try
-Hmm, well my tranny certainly doesn't have 110k miles on it... but im having them do it.
-Deff having them do the coolant service
-Spark plugs i probablywill have them skip
-Im ganna have them do the fuel service anyways just to be safe
-PCV valve will be done, probably also because I have no idea what the hell it is
-Air filter they skip all the time because they know I have a CAI and so they dont bother with that
-Probably will have them skip the wipers, but the pain on them is chipping...again...
-Rear brakes do need adjusted, which reminds me, I need to buy another lugnut still...
But then this is all iffy, because im not sure if the dealership will skip things I tell them to. They might, they might not, cause the service manager hates me, but the techs LOVE my car.
