I've been seeing these cars everywhere! Every mag I pick up has 50% of it's pages with one of these cars on it.
Is it really that great?? I have a Mits and hate it.
I guess they just have a ton of mods available, huh.

...its a almost 300hp AWD beast...the 4g63t has been around since the early 90's, so yes, theres a **** load of mods...insurance will run the cleanest record driver a ****load as well.

Again, showing my ignorance. The Evo is just a performance Lancer, right?

What planet without cars have youve been living on? They are coming out with the EVO X soon (meaning TENTH) so yes theyve been around for a while and compete with the STi in the AWD/Turbo/Sedan class...

its more then that. it's it's own car IMO. it's pretty much a rally car made street legal and a little more comfortable, inside the car =P

Piliper, i dont mean to sound like an as$, but seriously...are you totally not into cars at all? cause you are asking some pretty generic questions, a lot...maybe instead of making a new thread each time...you should make one thread entitled "Piliper's Questions" that would save a lot of wasted space.

I'm sorry, I guess I wasn't born with all car knowledge magically embedded in my brain...yes, I am very new (like a few months) to performance cars, just like you were at one time.
I've been too busy finishing my master's degree and applying/enrolling in a doctoral program. Didn't have time or interest in cars at that point. They got me from point "A" to point "B."
How do you learn??? Read and ask questions, both of which I am doing.
So, if you don't want to answer my questions then don't. It's a pretty simple principle.

Well put. Most people on here I have noticed have to much time on their hands to get ticked off over a question, but whatever its all good. You don't know till you ask thats all I say.

Just because you say this, doesn't mean that you can then say an ***-holish thing.
It's like saying, "I don't mean to be rude, but you suck." Just because I said I don't mean to be rude, doesn't mean that I wasn't being rude...

ya, I don't mean to kick ya in the nuts but I'm gonna have to kick you in the nuts. love that stuff. I'm new to all of this stuff too and now that I've gotten to really know who the gerks are on this site I can't help but crack up when someone lays into them. As soon as someone who has been around speaks up they start kissing arse like they didn't mean anything. Whenever the other gerks are around it's like a gang war. Craziness. Ask away with the questions. Just be aware of which forum you post in and make the search feature your friend to avoid the attacks.

dont try too hard to be a dick...its not like all the generation evo's have been in the states..IIRC, the evo 8 (which is not called an evo 8 here, its called a "lancer evolution") is the first model to come stateside...i didnt know anything about them until they came over

It's a pretty cool car, that's why it is popular in car magazines.
I never heard of an Evo until rumors of the first NA market was coming.

So, the Lancer is to the Evo what the Impreza is to the WRX?
(wow, that sounded like an SAT question)

Is that the Evo X in that second to last pic? The red car? It looks a bit different from the rendering and I actually like the drawing a bit better if so.

More like:
Lancer is to the Evo what the Impreza is to the WRX STI. With that said the cheapest Lancer is a lot less than the cheapest Impreza in price and features and overall goodness.
Super, your kind of right - the evo really only shares the body shell with the lancer. None of the drivetrain can be swaped between them. the EVO is a AWD where as the Lancer is a traditional FWD.
The Subies are different in the WRK and STi are hot rod versions of the Impreza.

OK, Piliper i really was not trying to be a dick, i was just saying that you have a lot f questions...more so than anyone person i have seen on here. i was simply making a suggestion to make your own thread of your questions so they can be answered accordingly, instead of making a new thread every single time. i like helping new people in the world of cars, i really do...and piliper is one of the greatest examples of this. i like helping people like him...but i also understand that once a question is answered the thread is lost in the jumble. i thought it would be a good idea for him to make a thread specifically for his questions. thats all i really was not trying to be mean.

Same size engine as us 2.0L.... if only hyundai would make a rally version of our cars.... AWD... Turbo.... it would own...

Yeah, I'm sure I ask a lot of basic questions that seem dumb or obvious to many, but I do want to learn. I'll try and cut back. I tutored in Greek and Hebrew in college and I remembered getting annoyed with freshman asking some really basic questions that I thought I covered, however, I had to step back and realize that I was in the same boat at one time.
I'm VERY obsessive compulsive by nature. The posts will calm down over time. I do appreciate all the info you've given me. Hey, I installed a CAI tonight. I feel pretty good about myself!
On a side note, I saw a pretty sweet Evo at Wal-Mart today. It was sitting in the parking lot running when I went in and came out. The dude was sitting in it like, "Yeah, my car is the shiz." The carbon fiber wing was kind of ugly, but the rest of the car is sweet.
