When Hyundai brought out the new generation Accent 4-door in 06,one of their safety selling points was that the car had 4-wheel disks with ABS and EBD standard, now for the 07 model year the 4-door does NOT come standard with 4-disks,ABS,EBD. You must Opt for the Premium package which also includes Power windows, mirrors, locks and keyless entry. the package lists for $950, add another $400 and you get 15" alloys with 195/55/15 tires.
I am not to argue with the adding of pwr windows, mirrors, locks and keyless entry. But I am left wondering why Hyundai would backpedal on the safety aspect of the Brakes.they did have a safety advantage over the other cheap econobox cars out there.

They realize that americans care more about stupid things than safety? And as being a stupid american i bought an elantra with only front discs... but eventually i want to upgrade to tib ones...

Yeah... originally all the GS's were to have the four wheel disc brakes with ABS and EBD, but only the SE's have them standard. And as you say, an option on the GLS.

I think it might be because of the Yaris and Fit coming out they wanted to keep the cost down and the profits higher. This is an easy way to do it. It makes sense because people who are buying the Accent's probably don't care enough to sway them away from buying the car, but I could be wrong.
