Hey folks just wanted to know if anyone has seen the Project Mu shift knob before. I just ordered one for $70. Unfortunately I have a Crapomatic tranny. I bought the knob because I liked it and plan on having a manual soon when I run my crapomatic into the ground. My question to you all is that the shift knob has a autotensioner at the bottom so its almost like a power drill when you try to tighten a bit around it. It has teeth that lock around the knob. I would like to use it on my shift knob do you think it will work??? I know how the auto shift knob works. But I am thinking that the spring will either have to be compressed at all times or it wont work. I see this more as a safety issue. Just in case somebody where to be driving my car and accidently knock my car into park. What do you guys thing

the spring does not need to be pressed at all times.

but you "WILL" need to be able to press it down to get into gear..

and it will need to come UP for you to put it in park and take the keys out.

i dont understand what you mean by autotensioner? when it goes down further the tighter it gets? :)

(haha)

the only solution to use a manual knob is to just leave it loose and push the whole thing down when shifting out / into park and reverse.

(the button doesn't need to be pressed when switching between D N and the numbers

^^^

yes, it need to be pressed FOR the numbers FROM D but you don't FROM the number up to R, you don't need to press it from N to D or R ... (hope it's not too confusing!)

the autotensioner is at the end of the shift knob. Its the only one of its kind. I think project mu has the patent for it right now. Have you ever seen the teeth on the inside of a power drill that locks around your drill bit to hold it in place. same idea. the shift knob is actually two pieces.
