well, it happened again i got my 7th ticket yesterday... yeah i know 7 wow. yeah well i was just messing around and this integra was trying to race so we caught a light. i didnt race him because well, common... lol. no match. he was all to fast to furious look. anyway i gave a pretty nice smoke show off the line. well yeah there was a cop that saw the whole thing, great. so because i was cooperative he let me off with a 101 fine for "squelling tires" that all he wrote, no notes or anything. so do you think i could take it to court and say that i was learning how to drive a stick? LOL. :D

There are many of us opinionated people around here, it's something to get used to. All I can say is if you don't want to hear them, don't post stupid things that you do and then try not to take the blame for it.
As for fighting the ticket, you won't win. You don't "smoke" the tires when learning to drive a stick...theres a bid difference in popping a clutch and popping the clutch and gasing the throttle.

Ok i understand, i know you dont smoke the tire's when learning to drive a stick. But i was just wondering because there is no info on the ticket about what happend. It was like the officer was in a hurry. so wouldnt the judge just see the note on the ticket? The note of squelling the tires? I didnt think i should but my friend that was with me thinks i should fight it...

sounds like this friend is that type of person who knows just enough to get hurt. you got off easy. he couldve written exhibition of power, which is a reckless driving ticket, and you know what that means for insurance. i say suck it up and pay it.

doesnt matter if its 7 parking tickets or 7 moving violations. how the hell do you get 7 parking tickets? do you not know how to pull between 2 yellow lines? being that parking tickets do not go on your insurance or license, why would it matter to list them? its what, a 30-50$ fine that is gone once you pay it?
and im sorry to say, the integra probably would have whooped your ***....our cars are slow

i listed the parking tickets because, well i dont know I guess i just did. But any way i travel to Seattle a lot and its hard to find parking i do dilivey drop off's and well they get you really fast for what ever you do.
And yeah i know our cars are slow and the integra would have dominated all over me but I was just messing around. :D

I wouldn't fight it ... I don't know if it's working the same way for you but up here when you fight a ticket they ask the cop to come in court and tell his part of the story ... if your out of luck he'll show, and then you'll be screwed!
Don't say a word and pay it!

If you are delivering food, people, or parcels in the city, you have the right to park as you wish provided your emergency flashers are on and your car is marked for commercial use. Seems stupid to pay parking fines when you are working and trying to earn a living. Get something on that car to show it's being used commercially when you are parking.
Suck it up and pay the fine on this latest one.

no...its not.
when i got my car, i still had dealer tags (waiting for 30 days that day) and i parked in a section at the airport where only certain cars could park while delivering pizza...i had a car topper on my car, was in for 5 min MAX, and came out and had a 35$ ticket...i was pissed, and probably could have ditched it (since it was dealer tags and the VIN wasnt on there), but i paid it anyways, since i knew i shouldnt have parked there.
doesnt matter if you are working or not, they can still ticket you
the one place we did get off easy was when i worked at a location right in the middle of a major shopping area...its about 4 sq/mi of businesses, and if we had to get to one where there was no parking, we put a flag in our window, hazards on, and ran in...cops were cool, knew the deal, and let it go...then again, its more like 'security' and not cops...the tickets they give are tickets and the $ you pay goes to charity

dount be a douche to the ricers...be thankful you got the "squealing tires" ticket...if you go to contest it, and the officer shows up, his word against yours...hmm...i got a ticket for squealing my tires, but the officer says that there was a display of power...BOOM the ticket just got bumped up in court PLUS court costs...you aint paul walker

in maryland i don't think they can RAISE the violation when its taken to court. don't call our cars slow evan. non-vtec integras are **** and even then i hate vtec and would never own them.
evan938
08-23-2006, 04:21 PM
1. our cars are slow
2. even if its non-vtec, we all know those motors respond EXTREMELY well to mods. i remember reading about a honda/acura that picked up something like 22-25hp from an exhaust only.
minimal mods will still give it enough of an edge to kill and xd.

Evan, you gotta quit making generalized comments like that. One of the guys I work with owns a 92 Integra LS with a CAI. His little 5-spd turned a blistering 17.49 the same night at IRP I ran a 16.2. MAybe you're talking about the later generation? Regardless, not ALL honDUH's respond so "fantastically" to mods. Some are still turds, no matter how much you polish them.
evan938
08-23-2006, 04:42 PM
my comment wasnt 'all hondas/acuras are fast', it was that they respond well to modS. i wouldnt expect a car to run blistering speeds with just an intake.
my point of the post was that he didnt know if/what mods the other car had...ive had some fun with a few 'riced' out hondas/integras...you know, alteezas, wing, stupidly big wheels, and they tend to hold up quite well and sometimes beat me. no f/i or spray, just some n/a mods...while i thought they were just rice, the few mods they had livened it up quite a bit...like the old saying goes, 'you cant judge a book by its cover'

Our cars are slow. It's not a stretch or inflamatory statement - our cars are good strong runners (usually), but speed demons they are not.

According to Autos.com's compiled information, the 5 speed Elantra has a 0-60 time of 8.8 seconds. The average for compact cars (per their data) is 8.93. So, at least the Elantra is on the better side of average! Of course, these numbers represent stock vehicles.
For what the car is ... it's quick enough.
I don't think this is standard across all jurisdictions.
I'm positive the parking issue is world wide and all inclusive. Duh. Of course there are going to be exceptions.

What you did was pretty stupid and you got off lightly with just "squeeling tires". But I think you probably already know that and this thread is more about the chances of you getting away from having to pay the ticket. Let's face it, how many of us have gotten tickets before but found the few hundred dollar fine a bit hard to swallow when you never seem to have any money to put into your savings anyway?
I don't know what the law is in your area and if they're actually able to bump up the violation, but if the fine is large, I guess it might be worth it to fight it because most likely, the cop will be too busy to come in to court for a minor traffic violation. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I just hope you've learned your lesson from all this because next time you do something stupid like this, the punishment could be much more severe.

i would have to agree with most people here, when i first started driving, my first car was an infiniti i-30, and yea i had my fair share of showing off, burn outs, racing... until i got hit with $580 for reckless driving $280 for negligent driving, $80 for unsafe lane change and 8 points on my license.. this happened in MD so for all the people in MD u know about "points" lol ever since then, i drive like i should lol...
by the way dude, u got off REALLY EASY!!

i heart my honda :) and i get flamed here cause i do...just wait till you see the track car thats in teh works...all im gonna say is D16Y8 + 18 to 20 PSI on a mild tune :D then when that pops... H22A with about 25 PSI and it wont see the streets until track day

Define "track". . . going in a straigt line 1/4 mile at a time or real racing?
Cypher

whats wrong with a quarter mile? and you'll still only have about half as much torque hah. should've gone with H23. besides you ain't seen nothing yet son ;)

Who drives 1/4 mile at a time in a atraight line and stops? That kind of racing is for bigblock powered monsters producing 4billion lb-ft of tq. Road course/auto cross is real racing. . .plus it teacjes you a thing or two about how your car handles at the limits so when needed on the street you can safely manuever around a hazard.

quarter mile is a test of yourself as a drive and a test of how well you know your car and to see what your hard work has brought you. sure its a straight line but it takes more skillthen you think

oH i'VE spent time on the 1/4. Gettingthe right launch, not missing a shift. . . but when you're turning 16-17 second times, it's not as much fun. Driving a 12 second ride is another story.

as far as the ticket its basically how lucky do you feel? Yeah you might be able to get away with the "i'm learning stick" line. It does work once in a while but stupid tickets like that are thrown out in court all the time here in Michigan. As far as an integra beating the elantra I dunno who all you've been racing but i've never had a problem roasting integras out here..although guess it all depends on the type of racing you are doing (Drag vs point to point racing).

it will be an occasianal 1/4 mile car, but will be set up for road type courses as well, the H22A would be more a 1/4 mile motor seeing as it wouldnt be the best for a road type setup in a sol...but it can be done :D but its NOT hard to get a boosted D series motor into the 12s...even easier for the H series...especially under boost :D

lol...i wanted to do the same with my old 72 Gran Torino notchback...but i woulda kept my cleveland :D i think i miss that car more than my 75 4 DR with the windsor :(

2bbl or 4bbl heads on the cleveland? The 4bbl heads were huge, but had NO low speed power. They would flow like mad, but the port velocities at slow speeds was terrible.

2bbl heads...with full emissions for the MY72 :( sigh, but it was also an import killer...LOL...hideously repainted "spruce green" with the green interior and a primer Gran Torino Sport hood..i was aspiring to have it look better than my dad's 72 sport...lol
