Is there anyone here that ever done a TB swap ???

I know I can have a Mustang 65mm OEM TB for somewhere near 60$ at a "pull-it-yourself" junkyard ...

So I was thinking of buying one and see if the TPS can be adapted, if not I'll adapt our TPS to the TB ... of course the TB won't bolt on the IM, so I was thinking about those insert plates that goes between the TB an IM and see if I can fabricate one that would bolt to the IM and then bolt the TB to that plate ...

It will require a lot of fabrication and fitting but I think it can be done ... I'll see if the bolts are enough appart from each other on both TB next time I'll go at that junkyard!

Anybody ever tryed it or have ideas to help it being done ???

May be less of a hassle to just get your stock one bored out or just buy a pre-bored one!

You're trying to go through an elaborate process for extremely minimal gains.

Nope as I will turbo the car and have a ported IM and head ... I'll need a bigger TB and just don't want to put 300$ on a little bigger one ... adapting an existing one may be a solution, that is if it's possible of course, if not I'll just see if I can buy a used one!

I was actually thinking the same thing. If i were you i'd purchase a used intake manifold and a mustang throttle body gasket. then remove the stud's for the throttle body and see if there is enough metal there to re-drill some holes for the mustang throttle body to line up. if that works out you will have to get your mustang throttle body and take the shaft to a machine shop and have the end machined to fit our tps sensor. plus an adaptor so the Tps sensor sits right on the TB and your golden. im guessing its probably almost as much as an aftermarket TB but i've got a mill at work so i can likely do most of the machining myself. good luck, let us know how it works out.

well as I said I can have the Mustang TB for 60$ ... and one of my friend have what it needs to machine the TB ... so it'll most likelly be 60$ for a 65mm TB, so I don't think it's that pricy!

Honestly, I'd rather just grade a 61mm BBTB from kSpec rather than having to jump through several hoops to get a 65mm, then have the IM bored on the TB side to match the 61mm...

The gains between 61mm and 65mm are very small, even turbo'd...

Right now I'm using a 58mm tb and having the IM matched to 58mm (soon as I send these damn IM's off)

The fun in having time to do other mods. ;)

it may not even possible ... I'll first have to verify bolt paterns on both TB first, I was just asking if anybody tryed or searched that route! and sometimes I think that bolt-on mods are sometimes too pricy! ingeniosity sometimes pays off! ;)

thx, saw that post earlier when you mentionned NT (I ran there! ) though the 70mm Ford TB are aftermarkets (from my researched done earlier this month) so it still cost a lot of money, the stock TB is 65mm and it's easilly find, I'll be able to have one soon, of course if it all works out I'll probably write a DIY ! :D

it looks like he's got a supercharger and likely a new intake manifold. im willing to bet TC fab'd that all in.

probably ... I just don't think I'll go with a new IM at first, I'll just port it with the head ... if I ever have the money I'll go with an aftermarket IM.

Thx for the infos!

don't you also need to get the idle bypass to match up as well as the studs?

you do know that porting a head the right way costs around 800-1200$

'cause you talk about it like its nothing... just making sure we're on the same page :D
