because of the thread here:
http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18527

it looks like the word filters arent 100%, of course those arent words one hears in a normal convo, but none the less, perhaps if any of the mods care to, starting a obvious NSFW thread and having people post words and slurs to see what to block out would be a good idea.. just a thought,

personally i only post from work, but i have an office so i could care less really, i also minimize any obvious "screwing off" whenenver anyone walks in heh.

Also if any mods read this, i guess the next question is what about avatars? is mine too "off colored"? i mean id hate to change it, cuz i use it everywhere.. and its on primetime heh, but then again not everything you see on cable is "office acceptable" either.

We started using the word filter because people couldn't act mature enough to stop using foul language. Don't get me wrong, I use the occasional foul language if the situation calls for it. The thing is people put a **** or a **** into every line for no reason. Only the four most common words are blocked out by the filter because we figured people would continue using those words, no problem. Since they are the most common words that would cut down on profanity on the screen. Again, we don't care that people use the words, but at least this way you don't see a screen full of them, only some stars.

We can put any words we want to and it'll filter them.

As for avatars and signatures, those can be turned off in a persons profile, and unless they are overly offensive we don't ask people to change them.

What it comes down to? Don't try to impress the internet by being offensive for no reason, because nobody is impressed.
