It depends on if your going for show or for go.
I would start with a 19.2 sway bar for the rear suspension. You can get these from a 2003+ tiburon. Or go to a dealership for it, and it should be around $180 installed, give or take. It will help big time with the handling.
If you got 50,000 miles or more, I would check the condition of the plugs and wires. sparkplugs.com is a good site for those.
I like tinted windows, so I did that right away too. Around $200 will get you the rear windows done.
Cold air intake will help with a little horsepower gain. Check ebay.
Also, headers are a nice add on too. Others would be better at helping you than me at that though.
Also check out the related links at the top. An avante xd is our car name, so they might not list elantra gt.
ALso, do some searching using the search button at the top too. It helps out a lot and will prevent some of us from flaming you.
And
welcome to the site.

light weight wheels...look good and help your handling. As long as they are wider that is. More rubber generally means better grip...as long as the tire are quality.

to get the most bang for your buck get a grounding kit or make one yourself, it provides everything from better gas milage to better radio reception.

I would Say with $1000.00 Grounding Kit, Tint, Cold Ait INtake & Wheels if you can afford them.... even some nice second hand rims with descent tyres
Thats where i would go with $1000
And lastly if you got some coin left an exhaust even CAT back for now.

depends on what shape it is in. Some of the best tuned cars are used turned top notch. Depends how much money you want to spend.
Remember, a $3000.00 used car will probably need $3,000 in maintenance

I can't imagine you could get a much better car than the gt for its sale price + $1000. It's a hyundai with 90k, so you aren't going to get much for it. If its in good shape, your much better off putting $1000 into it. That is, if you have all your maintenance up to date (timing belt, tranny fluid flush, etc...). If you dont thats where the money should go first, otherwise it'll just end up in repairs instead of maintenance.

well the car was $5000 and it seems to be in very good shape it even has some mods done to the interior and tinted windows. i even got a 5 months warranty, also the guy told me that most of those miles were highway. right now im going to collegue so everyday i have to drive around 40 minutes and back home then i go to work 15 minutes from here so im really geting those miles up. so... should i go ahead and do it or you recomend waiting until i get something better?

1: CAI - You can construct a nice one using pipe and elbows from lowes, and a K&N air filter from Autozone for under $75.
2: Exhaust - The EVO Fusion exhaust is well built but is a little lound, and does not come w/ a silencer. It get's the job done at $360.
3 & 4: Ground Wires & Big 3 - Buy some 8awg ground wire from a local audio shop along w/ some terminal rings. Follow the DIY and ground all the major points of the engine. Also pick up some 4awg power and ground wire to run from the battery to the alternator and the battery to the chassis. Total cost for wire and assorted connectors should be around $50.
5: Clutch Spring Removal: Follow the DIY for this one to get the clutch to engage properly. Best of all, it's FREE.
6 & 7: Short Shifter & Bushings: This modification will really improve the way you interact with the car as the shifter has much more tactile feel to it once this mod. is done. A: TWM short shifter w/ bushings is $120. B: Kartboy polyurethane bushing set is $30.
8 & 9: Sway Bars & Metal Endlinks: The Eibach anti-roll kit comes with both front and rear sway bars for $365. The OEM metal endlinks for the rear sway bar are around $30.
That's about $1000 right? Actually, if you forget about the metal endlinks it's right @ $1000. LOL.
Any questions?

Everything you may want to know about the Sway Bar (http://www.dfwhyundais.com/diy/DIY-SwayBar.html). It's a great mod, but on a car with 90,000 on it, in New York, well, the parts may be pretty rusted. You may have to get someone with an air wrench to get the old bolts loose.
