Update: Installed! But I definitely want to get the hangers welded down more on the muffler to have it tucked more under the bumper and do a bumper cut-out. I don't want it bottoming out or nothing! Plus, it'll look meaner! At first, I didn't hear anything when I first started the car. It sounded just like stock. I wanted to return it. But then after driving for 5 miles, it started to develop it's sound and it sounds really nice, but not that loud. And it sounds great when the engine is started. I'll get the sound clip either later tonight or tomorrow. My video camera has to charge, plus I have to figure out how to work the software and post a vid!

Soundclip: - First part starts off as the usual engine reving. Then, the second part is me cruising with all the windows up. You can hear some intake in some parts, but you more experienced guys will be able to differentiate the intake from the muffler. I got my hands on the software cd, so now you guys can acutally view the video instead of just listnening to it! LOL! Enjoy!

Very nice! :)
I found it funny how it says 1.6L, not too many of those people here... ;)
Be sure to post pics when it's installed, and a video/soundclip wouldn't hurt either. :D

I've got a buddy with a very similar remus muffler on his 99 tib and he loves the crap outta it. its got a nice throaty tone to it without being overboard and without being very loud at all.
Show us some bad a$$ install pics already!!!

No before dyno! But I doubt my numbers will show much since Jiffy Lube screwed up my tranny by putting in dexron III 3 years ago. I think it's robbing power, but I'm gonna wait for it to take a complete **** before I replace it. How much does a dyno run cost anyway?

Ford, I plan on getting the cat-back pipe replaced next week as well with a higher flow resonator. You think I'll see any benefit from that?

That looks really sweet man. If somehow you can manage to cut the bumper nicely that's gonna look even more bad ***. To me, it sorta looks "Audi"ish. Mind telling us where you picked up this muffler from and for how much?

Yeah, I got it from these guys for $320 shipped and took about 3 weeks to get since Remus had to make it. I ordered on August 15th and got it today! http://www.globaldiscountwarehouse.com/?I=29549 They have excellent customer service too! You can find universal Remus mufflers from other places online that the vendors actually have in stock, but from what I saw, they were no less than $350 excluding shipping. This direct bolt on is made on demand only!

how hard was it to remove the old muffler? those bolts look pretty rusty, did you just cut em or what? good choice. looks allot better then the traditional rice can! good luck with it!!

I heated the stock bolts up with an oxyacetylene torch until they were glowing red. Then I just zipped them off with my impact gun. And they could have been reused (if I didn't throw them out). I never remove old exhausts without torching the bolts first. It cleans the threads right up and and saves headaches by reducing the chances of bolts snapping on you or rounding out the bolts. You could use a small map gas torch too if you wanted to do it in a drive way. But it's much easier with a lift. Took me 30 minutes including stopping for pics!

Very nice OEM replacement muffler, though $230 seems a bit much. It's obviously a quality product or else I'm sure would say something to the contrary, so it's probably worth it in the long run. I got a cheapo EF cat back and OBX headers until I pay her off. Then I'm gettin a new car and strippin this one for the fun of. I can't wait.

Back on topic, the video portion of the clip was not great, but the audio was intact and that's all that was really important.

1. Yeah, this beeyatch'll be paid off this November. 3 more payments! But yeah, the price is high but, I really like Remus products. And to think, the MSRP on this muffler is $428! F that!

2. Yeah, I have to find the Sony Picture Package 1.5 CD. If anyone has it, let me borrow it. I looked all over for mine and Sony wants $70 for the replacement disk! They can shove that up their asses! I paid almost $500 for this HC21, the leastthey can't do is give me an account where I get free downloads of the software!

And it's crap software too. The editing sucks. I still have to use Sony Vegas or Nero to edit or capture the video!

What about windows movie maker? Keep in mind I have people who work @ Best Buy, so maybe I can get you the disk for free. I don't a video camera though so me havin software would be pointless.

keep the stock exhaust pipe.

I have never seen a dyno with an automatic that had any gains with an aftermarket exhaust " pipe " ...

Best thing you can do is to install a trans-oil cooler and just bypass the OEM radiator trans-oil cooler all together.....

=)

For an auto, you want to keep the smaller diameter pipe to keep the exhaust gas velocity high ... What gains may be realized on the top end do not outweigh the loss of torque you will have at the low rpms where it matters most with an autotragic....

By increasing the low/mid range torque, you will actually go faster than if you just increased the horsepower with a net loss of low end torque..... =(

Well, I planned on keep the the diameter the same. The only reason I wanted to change the pipe was to add the higher flow resonator.

It provided a small, but nice bit of extra power, nothing amazing, but it's nice! And yeah, it's not loud enough to cause too much cop attention.
