We have been noticing a larger amount of members from down under so along with the Pro Members the mods decided that they deserved their own forum in the Regional Category. If you are from this part of the world be sure to check in and say hello to your fellow mates (that's what you say, right?). And if you aren't from down under stop by and say hi so they all know they are welcome!

Enjoy it.

Its interesting noting the slight differences between the different regions for these cars. (apart from the obv right hand drive VS left hand drive of course :P)

thought i would ad my 2cents to it :)

Yay for the Aussies!! AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!! OI, OI, OI!! Unfortunately for us we are bound by tight road laws with how much we can mod our cars! If anyone can help me with being able to find head and tail lights similar to what u can find on Lancers, etc, I would really appreciate it. Also, I have been advised to put in a cat-back exhuast and tip, extractors, high flow cat and unichip computer to increase my power. The increase would be about 10-20% at a cost of around $2500. Is this reasonable? How would the car sound? Any info, once again, would be appreciated.

You need to decide whether you're going to stick with Naturally Aspirated or Forced Injection, then everything else will flow from there.

There are custom tails for the XD2, but it's a DIY job, and you'll need to break the lenses if you want it to look right. Currently I'm not aware of any custom 'altezza' style tail lights for the XD/XD2.

As for headlights, DIY job's for the XD2 (04-06), and chrome headlights are readily available for the XD (01-03) check ebaymotors you'd be looking at about $300AUD. You can also get chrome headlights for the XD2 only from Korea, don't know the price.

That price seems reasonable for the mods mentioned, but like I said, make the decision on F/I or N/A before you do anything performance wise...you don't want to get a 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust and 2-3 years down the track decide you wanna go turbo. :nono:

Thank you for ur advice Seinster, but being new to this mod thing, can you explain naturall aspirated and forced injection. I don't plan on going to turbo in the future, cuz all i really want is an extra bit of power. I have been told that putting the cat-back exhaust and tip on will sound crap on an elantra and they only really sound good on turbos and V8s. I personally dont like exhaust cuz of the noise factor but if it helps gain extra power, I guess I will have to do it. Is there another alterantive?

Sure, naturally aspirated refers to an internal combustion engine (normally petrol or diesel powered) that is neither turbocharged nor supercharged.
Forced induction = the opposite.

The cat-back on the elantra sounds good, especially with a good set of headers (extractors). It doesn't sound like the bumble-bee effect you hear on most lancers. So don't listen to the haters! ;) Search string = "exhaust sound clip" on the site, and you'll find there are a few threads where people have posted video's and/or sound clips of their rides with cat-backs.

 :headshake :headshake I am dissapointed with the amount of members (gloting) or giving the speed that they have traveled in excess of the speed limit, I know it is a thrill to go fast or try out your car, some even to top speed. Please use a race track. I am an ex N.S.W. ambulance officer, if you have seen what has happened on our roads, due to speeding, drinking or illegal drug use,
It would make you sick, I have retired due to injury on the job, and I carry the MEMORY of all the sensless carnage to this day. Iwill probably carry it for the rest of my life somthing I DON"T WANT.

I'm sorry but I must put my bit in We purchased an Elantra FX in November 2005, just traded it in on an Elantra Elite 2007. The difference is fantastic they have finally got it right, ours Black Mica, Mags and a superb interior. electric power steering, 4 wheel disk breaks, Electronic Traction Control, ABS, and a steering column that adjusts up and down, in and out. (Forward and back.) handles superbly, also more power. A bit of beautiful bit of machinery, BUT where are the bloody instruments (gauges). (Soon to be fitted). Some body got it right. WHAT A CAR.
Where the hell is the spell checker, with this site. I'm dyslectic and need help, not to feel an idiot.

Just a quick "Hi!" to all. I'm in Perth, WA.

I've got a red elantra. Headers, cat-back, modded intake. Going to upgrade the rear sway and get a front strut bar. Not sure if I'll do much else at this stage.

Do we have enough people for a meet sometime?
