View Full Version : Intake manifold tumor

On the Beta II's the intake manifold has a huge ... growth of some sort right in front / above the runners and right below the plenum that looks like a another plenum or something. does anyone know exactly what this is and what it's use is? It just seems a little odd to me.

the beta II (right) has it and the beta I (left) doesnt

and i would buy it in a split seccond if you were in canada. or could ship it to canada for less than 50 bux.
but unfortunatly us canadians get the very short end of every stick when it comes to aftermarket parts.

there is nothing wong with it. thats just how its designed, there is no other hidden plenum... there is just one plenum in there......

the bump is supposed to help swirl/mix fuel and air and direct flow into the head, I believe. You can grind it away to port-match the head (there are a few threads on it by Ford and others about it and gains achieved by matching)... The xd1 mani might be port-matched...

I think he is referring to the box-like design in front of the runners as opposed to the bare runners on the older IM.

the j2 manifold does not have the bumps on it like the xd ... i think.. lol

i can say from the inside view they look the same between the b1 and b2 mani's. the b2 looks like it flows better in all truth though, but thats just based on looks. i would try to run the b2 mani myself, but the b2 mani weighs litterally over 3 times what the b1 mani does.

The freakin huge box in front of the runners not the port shape on the head.
