I have an AutoXray scanner that I used previously for my '05 TransAm...are the XD2 cars OBD2 (OBD-II)??? If so I can proabably upgrade the scanner which would be helpfull at some point. Thanks for any input

Make sure your scanner has the Controller Area Network ( CAN ) protocol, otherwise it might not work. Vehicles after 2001 - 2002 have it in their ECU's. If you used it successfully on your 05 TranAm, you should have no problems...

My 05 TransAm was OBDI, with a special connector that is almost identical to the OBDII ones. I have the Autoxray scanner and they sell a cable and also an upgrade that says it will work for any late model Hyundai. I will just call them to make sure, the cable and upgrade are over $100 :(

Thats got to be a typo, there has been no Trans Ams since 2002, but yes they to were OBD2 so it will work as far as getting codes.

His name does say ChrisS95TA, bet he meant 95 which is OBD1. He just keeps putting 05 instead of 95.

he made the mistake twice tho... you would think he'd have noticed it or been able to hit the "9" at least once.

in 95 alot of gm cars were obd2 but still had the obd1 connector my scan tool has the adapter for the 95 gm vehicles. i needed it for my 95 blazer it had the obd1 conector but i had to select obd2 on the scanner
his scanner could be obd2 and just plug right in depending on the adapter he was talking about

I have run into that on 95 GM cars, some were still OBD1 and some were OBD2, and some wouldnt read with either one.
