Personally I think that this is a feature/issue that has been looked over for far too long.
When new members join, they have no idea about the rules of the site, hence are often put down by forumites who have been around for quite a while, which I believe leads us down the path of having so few new members, and so many guests.
Our general policy of "search before asking a question" is generally a frightening concept to a new member of the forums (especially if they're new to the forum scene), hence having a clearly defined set of rules in addition to a FAQ and/or Wiki as put forth in the thread (http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18908) by kk4real is really a neccessity.
In reference to the FAQ aspect, I'm not talking about things such as Is there a CAI available that I can install into my new Elantra
Rather, I speak of forum related matters such as:
Gentoo FAQ (http://forums.gentoo.org/faq.php)
GameDev.net (http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/faq.asp) (which includes their rules into the FAQ for easy reference)
The list is endless, so that will have to do as far as examples go.
This is the only forum I know of which doesn't have these essential pages.
The Trader Ratings (http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/traderratings.php) could be easily be moved to the Quick Links drop down menu and FAQ/Rules put in place.
Thoughts/Comments/Suggestions/Flames appreciated...

i also think since rules are coming up, that the COTM submissions actually follow the rules too...
2. Provide at least 5 high quality pictures (shots of exterior, interior and engine are required). Starting January 2005 we'll be requesting that only high quality photos be submitted for COTM candidates. Also, we'll only want pics that sized at 800x600 - no borders. Also, we'll only except clean pictures, meaning not ones uploaded to car domain (or other such sites) with their logo on it. It is also recommended to have one simple 3/4 shot (without license plates), which looks best in the header, in case your car wins

i think that with the COTM we should have a rule that you can't run too many times in a row.
we kind of have a newbie introduction: http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30
but i know what you mean. i think i may have actually said it before. along with the "meet your moderators" thread that no one ever did ;) if james and the other moderators want to do that i'll do it. I think on alot of sites it helps to makes some people feel like the mods are ACTUAL people. lol

I'm not a person, but a bot installed to lock threads, yell at people, and make your EXD experience as miserable as possible.
...or so some people would tell you.

We'll see what we can come up with. I thought that people that were smart enough to use the internet and internet forums were smart enough to act like it, seems I was mistaken. Ha.
About the COTM, pics larger than 800x600 are acceptable. The rule was made so that people with crappy old cameras or cell phone cameras couldn't post low quality pics. Resizing pictures down is no problem. Making small pictues big is.

Seinster, I wanted to say that I am going to put a Rules section together but haven't had any time lately and since I'm going to Pittsburgh this weekend it'll have to wait until next week.

How about getting rid of the search function delay? Meaning that if you search, you cant search for another 30 seconds.

Thanks for the update, much appreciated.
The search function delay is there for a reason, if it was removed the site would be a LOT slower as it puts more load on the server.

That's above his head. he's already mentioned this in a few other threads.

Above my head? It's an easy switch. I already made it lower once for you kids. I don't want to lower it any further because of it risking slowing down the site. Let's not forget back in early August when the site slowed down for a couple days everyone was crying like little kids without their bottle. We don't need that again.
What are you searching for Reece? Ask me, I know everything, ha.

I thought you had said something about the ISP wouldn't allow it. My bad.
But I'm not that impatient, so i'm not worried about it. :)
