I decided to replace the old battery on my '02 GLS. It still starts ok but it is five years old and another winter is coming.

I noticed the positive terminal has a stud in the middle with a nut to hold the cable on. I checked a few replacement batteries and none have this stud.

What have you guys been doing? Is there a battery on the market with the stud to hold the positive cable or are you changing the cable or cable end?

Did a search for battery and did not see anything on this subject.

Are you talking about the positive cable? That stud is part of the cable, not the battery. A nice 24F series battery fits well in our cars and offers a lot more power than the stock size battery.

Thanks, Yes it is part of the positive cable. I looked at it, without taking it off, and thought it was part of the battery.

I just changed the terminals, put something a little more sturdy.

Also gives you more freedom to choose the battery of your choice.

Exactly what restrictions would they impose? Nothing as far as I have seen. The only limitations you have are the base. You can only drop in what fits into it, but even then you have quite a few options.

I just had the factory put a new battery in my car under warranty cause my dumbass put a amp to it (400w pushing 1100w sony xplodes) and it killed it in about a week.

I needed a new battery and put in a Die Hard Gold. Ran $100, but I know its a good battery, has a good warranty and Sears is always close if i ever have a problem with it.

The Positive side terminal, just take the nut off and the "cap" comes right off.

It may not come right off. Took me over an hour with a crowbar, and cracked the battery case as well.

i had the same problem with my 02 gt.... just started having problems starting it in cold weather. i bought an Optimum Yellow Top battery on ebay for $128 shipped! good price considering Pep Boys wants $189 before tax. Theres some Optimum Red Top batteries on ebay right now at good prices, anyone interested should check it out, i think theres like 2-3 days left on some good deals
