I can't remember seeing anything in regards to this but forgove me if there is, i'm really sick and kinda doped up. i KNow with the GM ECUs you can have them flashed and that'll take care of the speed limiter (rev limit however you want to describe it). Example being my cousin had the one done on his cav to take care of this problem. Now can the same thing be done or do you actually have to "re-write" the stupid thing or flashing an ECU is the same thing for us and all cars?

This is the thread I created this morning regarding ECU Resetting. You can reset it by disconnecting the negative terminal on your battery, breaking for approximately 30 seconds, reconnecting the terminal, ensuring the clock has been reset, and then starting your car back up for a bit.

fifth, he's talking about re-programming the ecu, and there are a few things on this site about it. You can buy a re-flashed ecu from KDMguy in Korea if you provide a list of mods that you have for your car, but it's a costly option and comes with an increased redline.

Sorry! My bad... thanks for correcting me.

why do you need to get rid of the top speed limiter? theres no reason to go that fast.

he's talking about the rev limit, the max RPM, the cut off ...

True tuning can be done on the GM PCM's from 02-up. Anything can be changed/adjusted. You can get mail-order "tunes" where you call them with your exact specs on mods and wha tyo uare trying to accomplish and what octane gas you wan to run or you can take the whole car there and they tune it on a dyno.

Unfortunately, Hyundai's PCM's are more like the Black hole. With the exception of KDM guy person there isn;t any other options for PCM's.

Well just becasue you don't feel the need to go that fast doesn't mean others can't. rev limiter and speed limiter kinda go hand in hand at the moment, just dunno the best way to explain what I was talking about. I know you can buy a new ecu with what you've done to the car for about 500 bucks or so. Just thought it I got the thing flashed (like you can do with the GM cars) it'lltake care of that problem. Reason why I choose to get ride of it is becasue if I get the turbo would like to get my moneys worth and not just be a red light whore. Specially when I hit the oval track and plan on taking out my friends stag and step dad's cts-v (Well with the cts-v at least surprise the crap out of him). Kinda seems like a waste of money to spend btwn 2k and 5k for a turbo setup and not use any of the potential the car and turbo has. Also feel like its false advertisment when the speedo reads 140 and car stops at 120 due to stupid ecu programming. Now I know what all of you might say "there is no need to do that speed on the high way and blah blah blah". Well your right but you're only actually doing that speed if you get caught and thats a bit hard when you have a radar detecter coupled with radar and laser jammer...but shhh no one is supposed to know..lol

I can't drive anywhere without my radar detector, I feel naked without it.

you don't seem to understand how fast 120 on the quarter is. you're trapping 12s at that point if i remember correctly. which you're not going to be doing anytime soon.

He said oval track, not drag strip.

i still don't see how you're going to need to go that fast.

Need is not the correct terminology. Want is better. Who "Needs" a turbo? Who "needs" to lower their car? Who "needs" anything? Let it go for crying out loud.

he does make a valid point and I guess he isn't as adventures as others, and thats fine. to get to the final point the car will eventually end up strictly a track car rather than both at the moment. No offence to other people but I don't find drag racing remotely entertaining what so ever since your just putting power vs power of other car. Where as track racing or point to point races are more skill based and require a bit more than stab and go. Now i'm not knocking it and I do some drag once in a while, its just not for me. Thanks for the input all!

If your going to oval track it, you'd want to go turbo for sure, and if you want the limiter removed, as I'm sure you know we have a limited market for our cars, the only real choice you have is buy the re-flashed ecu.

no. the REAL choice you have is a standalone. hands down. thankyoucomeagain

Either way thanks for the input everyone and Cypher I see your point in regards to the strip.
