It's the same steps as installing the s/r indiglo gauges that are in the DIY already. Except I just painted the bezel. I could make one up if you want though.

can you take out the bezal itself? or just tape it off and paint away?
did you use spray or did you brush?

Ok, once you take the speedometer out (2 screws on each side) you pull out the speedometer and unhook the wiring harnesses (it pulls out more than far enough to easily unhook those too ;) ) Once it's out completely you'll be able to see everything clearly. The clear plastic front snaps into the bezel, which snaps into the speedo-cluster housing. Unsnap the clear front from the bezel and set aside, than unsnap the bezel from the housing. It's very very very easy. You'll see.
I used spray paint from paintstratch.com.
You'll be surprised how easy it is.

any clear coats? or just silver?
zx2uner

since it's not really exposed to anything...I didn't clear coat.
I thought about it though ;)

yea...I'll most likely clear coat...just to give the speedo more of a glow...
ok sorry for all the question...
I've taken my dash out...and see how to take the cluster out but...
the stuff like the numbers and lines...that's underneath the bezal right?
and the bezal is just everything that's silver right??

yup....it completely is separate from all the numbers ect. that **** stays with the housing....you'll see ;)
and no question is a stupid question... ;)

Looks good with the stock gauges (GT gauges in this case). I can't see it working well with the aftermarket white face gauges. Looks like you did a good job too. You are on a pretty good modding streak.

Be real careful removing the clear cover, it's kind of brittle and the tabs might break and the cover itself can crack easy. Careful you don't scratch it, too. If you already have scratches on the clear plastic, while it's removed is a GREAT time to polish it with plastic polish.
The painted bezel looks nice!

Don't ever get superglue near those instrument clusters. it melts them..and I found out the hard way.
Well, it melts the black plastic crap off of the cluster panel.

Nope. there are 8 different clusters for the Elantra, 4 for the '01-'03 and 4 for the '04-'06 (GLS Auto, GLS Manual, GT Auto, and GT manual).

How do you like it after having it now? Is there any glare or anything like that when the sun hits it?
