Just curious, those of you that have carbonmans ported/polished intake manifold, did you notice/feel any difference? And yes I did search but didnt notice any actual comments on it. Wondering because I'm expecting mine in a few days.

Received the intake mani on friday, installed it on friday and I must say I am very happy with it, nice kick to the car now. Oh ya, I can now spin my tires a bit on a launch, couldn't do that before with my 17's. :) That made it worth it to me lol

carbonman
11-01-2006, 02:34 PM
Well atleast your happy with the intake, thats a positive :)
I'm going to start shipping manifolds UPS and have to charge more, CPS/USPS is too slow. Sometimes it can get there in a week and others like this occassion 5 weeks.
Jared, yours will ship two days after I receive the core from Exemptednut.

Woohoo! And depending when it shows up, I may be doing the install in the heated dealership garage!

Woohoo for being in a car club thats now friendly enough for a local dealership to let us have tech days!

Does anyone have dyno sheets before and after their porting? BTW, porting being the only change between dynos

Unfortunately I don't, I'm too brok edue to splitting my money between modding two cars :drive:

plus, I would be embarrassed to show dyno numbers because I'm at a mile high altitude so my hp numbers suffer more than they would at sea level

No I used the message system you have via Contact Us on you webpage. Basically wondering if you have dealt with any of the intake from the KIA's I am 99% sure they are exactly the same. If you would like I can take a few photos for you and e-mail them to you just to double check. Really would like to get this work done for my car.

carbonman
11-03-2006, 07:56 PM
Yeah I'm pretty sure they are the same. Send some pics and we can make sure

carbonman, how do you work this out for using a core from someone else. For instance, if I were to order one, would you have one already done so it ships on receipt of the core ... and money of course, or do you have a different way?

Would you be able to do this ... I give you two Money Orders; one for the P&P and the other for the core. You locate a core, do your magic and send out the manifold when your done. I then send you my manifold and you return the money order ...

Also, if you bored out for the 61mm BBTB would a smaller one work? Is there a reason for the different sizes?

Last question ... honest :)

Has anyone used your manifold on a turbo setup?

carbonman
11-03-2006, 10:19 PM
BMXdad
Here is how my core "system" is designed to work.
-I have a manifold that is p&p
-order is placed/paid for ($$ for p&p, s/h & core charge)
-IM is sent to customer
-once the customer installs P&P IM they send their OE IM back
-when I receive the OE IM I return the core charge

I mostly get payments via paypal but money orders are fine aswell and what you suggest can work also.
A smaller BBTB will work just fine with a larger IM port size, the main reason for the different sizes is to reduce turbulence from the transition from large to small or vise-versa.
N/A engines will benefit mostly with a port size in the 58mm size where F/I engines will benefit from a 61mm.

Honestly :) not that I know of, but is very possible and benifits would be even greater.

-------------
Yozick, I'm working on getting another core unit for the Beta2 MAF/CVVT equiped engines. The listing for the current core is 2, so any orders placed now would be in line after them.
It been answered already and they are correct, that is the same IM. I received a few inquiries from some members on streetkias.com a while back but nothing ever came of it.

Craig installed mine today, he also Ported and Polished my TB.......I will dyno it soon to see what gains there are, but so far I've noticed, much BETTER throttle response and more powerful pull when accelerating.

Thanks again Dude.

carbonman
11-07-2006, 05:15 PM
looks like we got it finished just in time too. Started to piss rain about 10 mins after you left.

ExemptedNut
11-07-2006, 05:50 PM
Carbonman, you can p&p a throttle body? does that include boring it out?

carbonman
11-07-2006, 05:54 PM
yeah, the TB can really only be bored safely to about 56mm maybe 57mm
Its the butterfly valve work that is the benefit on the OEM tb

ExemptedNut
11-07-2006, 06:43 PM
what is the bore of the stock tb now?

carbonman
11-07-2006, 08:12 PM
pretty sure the smallest part is 53mm but there is about 3 transfers as the air enters the TB from 57mm on the intake side down to 53mm-54mm at the butterfly valve and the IM port

ExemptedNut
11-09-2006, 01:02 PM
how much would this cost for you to bore it out
