Filter install (Is this a sensor?)

I have just gotten my car yesterday and my first mod is a cone airfilter.
While I was bolting off the old box I noticed that there was another small sensor in the top of the box itself. Is this another air sensor or can I just leave it out?
Will I have to drill a whole in the tubing and put it in?

My car is a 1997 Hyundai Accent 1.5i.
Not as good as an elantra but great to get around.

BTW is it possible to put a 1.6l 16valve head on the 1.5l 12 valve motor?
Cause 12 valve doesnt roll off the tounge as well. :tongue:

It's probably an air intake temperature sensor. You need to put this in the new intake.

^^^ That is totaly correct. This must be in the intake or the computer will freak out.
