Alright, I know there are a bunch of threads regarding this issue, but I just don't have time to look through each one at the moment. Your help is greatly appreciated.
I drive a 06 Elantra - manual

I recently took my car in for the 15k oil change...and the guy told me that I was late on getting it in. But it was between mileage...and honestly, I didn't really know about the whole warranty issue....let's just say that the wife is NOT happy :mad:

So, now the guy is telling me that I really need to have it done (about $180)

Of course, we didn't know about this, or have the money so I said "not today"
When we looked at the pamphlet, we get to seeing that every freaking 15K, 30K, 60K this is going to be happening...

The prices on this are pretty outrageous...and I dont see how this warranty is truly anything other than a way to keep me spending even MORE money on the damn car.

Am I missing something here? What is something that I need to tell them to do, instead of having them do everything and charge me out the @$$?

I just feel like this whole warranty thing is kind of stupid if I have to be spending all this money anyway.

So, I have to get the 15k every 15k
the 30k every thirty
60k every 60k...

and I'm sure it keeps going. I'm just frustrated because this all seems a bit much. Anything I can do to get rid of at least half of the costs?

Again, I'm sorry for posting this, but I just am frustrated and don't have time to look through threads. Your help is more than appreciated!! Thanks! :bowdown:

I would go somewhere else man sounds like your getting the long end of the stick bentover on this one. My dealership is cool about it. They just wont void because you went mileage over. They would only void it if you dont get it done and something happens too it. Find yourself a new dealership seriously.

Thats horsesh*t.
15k=oil change,maybe a air filter and maybe a rotation
30k=trans service,coolant service,oil change,rotation,maybe a air filter
60k=all the above+timing belt,tune up
and so on and so on
We as dealerships also do other services like various flushes but all you have to wworry about is what your maint booklet tells you at certain intervals.They cannot void your warranty without a Hyundai rep's permission

The 15k service is not required for warranty. I believe it is an oil change (which you do need, every 3250-7500 miles) and mostly inspection of stuff. Maybe an air filter. No way $180 worth of stuff.
All dealerships do this (not just Hyundai), one of the reasons people call them stealerships.

Typical Hyundai 15k= Oil change, rotate/balance, air filter and wipers. The air filter and rotate/balance are the biggie things on this interval.

As for the 30/60/90k, welcome to new car reality. Thanks to ever tightening restrictions by the EPA, most newer computer controlled vehicles that are OBD II (1996-up) require scheduled maintenance. You can skip it, but plan on buying a new car every 100k, or you can keep up on it and keep the car for years to come.

You don't have to have the service done by the dealer. Just make sure all the scheduled maintenance is performed and keep the receipts (either from a local shop, or receipts from the parts to prove you did it yourself).

thank you all so much!

My wife is going to be very pleased with all of this.

I will continue to take the car to them for oil changes, because the deal they have is: Free tires for life, as long as I continue to bring it to them for an oil change...which I think is a good deal, no?

Again, thanks for the quick responses and information. If anyone else has anything to add, please do so. I had fogotten about this site...I love it!

I would make sure that they put that free tire deal in writing. You cannot take anybody's word these days.

I'm pretty sure they are even advertising the free tires for life on tv, or at least my local dealerships are. I wouldn't think you would need it in writing, but hey I could be wrong
