I purchased rubber floor mats from the Dealer 4 weeks ago. I have been airing them ever since I got them. Does the odour ever go away ? They came in a plastic bag so I think this is what caused the problem. Rubber floor mats in an auto store do not seem to have any odour but they aren't in a bag and are out in the open. I bought them from the Dealer because the shape fits the car.How will I be able to put them in my car with this odour ? I left them outside in the backyard for a week and now they are in my basement room. If the window is closed then the whole room in my house also smells of rubber.

Yes your right, sorry about that.Maybe this post could be deleted since my other post on this topic wasn't that long ago.I did go back and read all the answers in the first post.I agree with you that the odor will go away one day.I'm just wondering if it will go away before it starts to snow because I would like to put it in the car by then ? As I said before being confined in the plastic bag is what caused the problem. When I said buyer beware I didn't mean about rubber smelling like rubber. What I meant was to beware that since the Dealer's mats are in a plastic bag it will have more of an odor than ones from a store where they are out in the open.

Sorry to say this dude, but wow these threads are useless.

They will either

a- smell like that forever and ever
b- stop smelling like that one day

Now THINK FOR A SECOND, which choice looks more logical, a or b? Now that you have chosen answer b, HOW THE HELL are we supposed to know how much time YOUR mats are going to stop smelling like rubber? IS the GOD OF ELANTRAS on this forum? If he is, man, i'd like to ask him a couple of questions myself!

boil them in tomato sauce then put it on ice then cover them in dirt and rinse then off.

Well , other people who have also purchased these mats from the Dealer would know how long it took for the odor to go away. However you are right that we should discuss topics that are of interest to others in the forum,so lets drop this topic.
Now lets get to my other concern, the itchy fabric that Hyundai uses for the seats.Just kidding, this has also been discussed already in a previous post of mine.

itchy fabric? LOL!!!!!!!!!!

and +1 on the tomato sauce, you should try that and tell us if ti works.

I mean if it gets rid of the skunk smell it should get rid of anything.!

Just haul your buddy around who farts a lot, you won't notice the smell of the floor mats.
