I just put my Alpine turbo kit on my 2001 Hyundai Elantra and I am having some trouble with my clutch, I bought a F1 stage 3 racing clutch and lightend flywheel in March of 06 and never had a problem with it until now. When I go to take off or when I get down on it my clutch slips horriably and my car starts shaking really bad, anyone have any ideas what could be wrong or do you'll think I just have a crapy/worn out clutch?

well, that's what you get for cheaping out on the clutch.
Sorry dude.
Then again, it could be your pressure plate bolts or flywheel bolts that are getting loose. If that's the case, one day BOOM! your pressure plate and disc (and possibl flywheel) will fly off through your bellhousing and it will cost you a new transmission, plus whatever it whipes off on it's path of destruction.
It makes me remember that SRT4 someone posted at some point that did a burnout, and what I described happened. HE ended up needing a new transmission, intake manifold, and radiator, as well as flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate.
Also if, by flying off, it damages the crank end the flywheel is fixed on, you will need a new crankshaft, for which you have to open up the engine from the top and the bottom, which will cost you a lot if you can't do it yourself.
Though that is the worse case scenario.
Then again, it just could be your clutch disc that started to slip a lot (perhaps on a high rpm launch that didnt work out) and caused a glaze on the flywheel, which is making it slip now.
ANYHOW you will have to open your transmission buddy.

Well I think I'll just get a new clutch kit, what kind of clutch do you have (since you are also boosted) and I have heard since I am turbo I should put my original flywheel back on. I think its the clutch though because if the bolts are loose it would do it all of the time right? It only does it when I get down on it.

The thing is that the pressure plate remains snug in place until you give it a good amount of torque. I'm sure that if you put your clutch on yourself you would understand why, because of the way it sits on the flywheel.
I have a fidanza flywheel and an ACT street disc and PP (holds up to 270wtq about)
Just a question: is your disc sprung or unsprung?

So I dont know a ton about tranny parts or clutches but me and some friends put my clutch on in March and I really dont know what you mean by sprung or unsprung, sorry (now i feel stupid) could you explain? So should I buy a new clutch and install my factory flywheel?

Does your clutch disk have small springs in it or is it one solid piece?
OT- Kewl how do you like the street disk I might get a spec PP and a ACT street disk but will it hold the power of 14 psi which would prolly be around 250wheel tq???

Was there 4 springs on the clutch disc?

hmm, I noticed that my clutch engagement point has gotten farther up on the pedal stroke....and I know I didnt bolt the PP on correctly...the only question is: did I use loc-tite? hahah, oh well. maybe I'll fool with it when I do the timing belt.

That means the clutch is wearing down...

Have you seen a clutch disc? it's like 4 mm thick. And a clutch is conisdered shot when there's like 3mm left or so. I don't think he felt a difference of 1mm with his foot.
I say, your master cylinder is leaking.

Felix, I got a question for you.
I think my throwout bearing may be shot, but I'm not sure if that's it or not. When I start my car up, when it's still cold yet, I hear rattling, not too loud, but definitely noticable. It stops when I depress my clutch. After it warms, up, you can sill hear it, but barely, and again, It stops when I depress the clutch. Any ides if it's the throwout bearing or flywheel? Or something I haven't even though of?

^^^ Sounds like the TOB, I remember evan having a similar issue, not sure if it ended up being the TOB or not. But yeah, i think it is. If it gets worse it will start doing the rattling through certain gears.

^^ my clutch does that same thing gives a rattling slash chatter noise, Hyundai needs to do something about those stock clutches, Mine was acting like that from the second I had the car.
