nitrous for the win! spray on your intercooler and you can actually make frost on your charge piping ;)

Do it.

Keep your kit.

I am thinking about doing cry02 cooling since it's less expensive to fill that up than nitrous!

Have it hooked up to wot so it sprays after the turbo gets spooling

Spray it the entire time. I had a friend with a GTI with a front mount. He didn't have the actual nitrous kit, but we just took a bottle and cracked it open in front of his intercooler while on the dyno. He gained 50 hp and 75 tq.

you dont really "spray" co2 per se...its more like a cooling ring that fits in the intake pipe that chills the intake air as it passes around/through it

you can read up on it in bms231's GB thread

nitrous you actually spray the gas and the gas freezes the intake air. cryo2 just chills it about 50 degrees or so

There's more than just the intake part that you're talking about evan. There's also a tube with holes in it that actually sprays the CO2 onto the outside of the intercooler.

sorry...i was thinking of the kit that i saw on his car at s3, which was just the cooling rod that was in the intake piping. from how he explained it to me, is the co2 just cools the rod, which cools the air in the intake...

sorta like if you put your finger behind an ice cube, and blew on the cube, you'll feel cold air on your finger.

HOLY **** 50 hp gain with just cooling the IC?

What the.....

How much boost was he running?

I am getting the cry02 kit next year, yay for me :D

Cypher

dude... i guess you don't understand just HOW MUCH nitrous helps boosted cars! i've people gain 100whp from a 50shot because it cools the charge air so much. the pipes get so cold you can't even hold them. just feels like ice.

I think im goin to wet muhself

Yeah, the guy holding the bottle froze his finger because it was in the way when he opened the bottle. How much boost? I don't recall, but it was basically a stock car with intake, exhaust, and fmic. He was at 200hp and 200 lbft before the spray, and 250hp and 275 lbs of torque when we sprayed the intercooler.

I understand the theory but I did not know just how much it cooled it. That is friggin insane. I gotta get myself one of those kits for next track season FTW. Since my car is (almost) good to run now (still have exhaust leak pending turbo gasket = creeping), next year I am going to be murdering these stock tires I have on the track. Wait till you see, lol. Videos, pics, dozens of runs to come!!!!

If I get this kit I might also do some with/without runs, etc.

Also I spotted a company like NEXT to me who has unichip rights, and a dyno, this winter I am going to give the chip a real tune on my mods and it will be fine!

My buddies STI has a water sprayer for the intercooler from the factory ... the tank is in the trunk and a button on the dash to spray the intercooler... he filled it with ice and water last year at the track... not to sure of the difference it made but any amount of cooling is good i am sure...

Yeah at worst If i end up low-budgetted i'll just water spray it, it's still better than nothing for like 40$ ;)

If that was the case then you could get a bottle of windsheild washer fluid put it into your freezer over night, it will get super-duper cold, then store it in a little ice filled cooler until you get to the track and use as much as you need in order to cool.

Well washer fluid is methanol which can be sprayed into the intake on a F/I vehicle to lower intake temps and provide a octane boost resulting in more powwwwaaaaa :) FYI

only certian washer fluids are 50% methanol 50% water. watch out when you buy it if you are going to do it.

dude i just checked something.

sell your nitrous kit.

the NX n-tercooler system selles for 350$ on ebay, you can get brand new **** and have the same results, and save 100$, if you can sell your current kit for 450$

Just told Santa that I want a CO2 intercooler spray kit for Xmas. Hopefully he listens :D

I wonder if spraying methanol onto the intercooler would provide the same results.
For instance,if it gets on your hand,it is cold as heck.Ponder that, will ye
